Style: English Porter
Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.70%
Availability: Year-round
Notes / Commercial Description:
A rich, chocolaty English Porter with a clean finish. We use the finest floor-malted Maris Otter malts from England, the same malts used for the best single-malt scotch. A portion of malted rye gives a spicy, slightly dry finish.

Having had this beer a number of times but never reviewed until now.
Poured from bottle into my Highland Brewing Company pint glass.
A- Nice very dark brown almost black in color with tan frothy head
S- Sweet vanilla and chocolate dominate the smell.
T- The taste has the same hints of vanilla and chocolate, but they are followed by a nice roastiness.
M- Fairly heavy in body yet has decent carbonation.
O- Very good beer from Yazoo. If you like porters you have to give this a try. Highly recomended.

I thought this was very good. Porters can be overdone but not this. It's got a subtle chocolatey coffee taste with a little bite, yet very drinkable.

12 oz bottle served at about 55F in a goblet. Purchased and consumed a few months past BB date, but bought and stored refrigerated.
Flavor: Chocolate and sweet malts. Slighty sweet balance for style
Finish is a mess of flavors, probably due in part to the rye.
Feel: medium-full body with excellent, near-medium carbonation.
O: worth trying.

A medium sized light brown head that settles into a decent lacing above a clear dark reddish amber colored beer.
Dark roasted caramel to chocolate malt aroma with a bit of dark fruits sneaking in there.
The taste is very similar to the aroma deep dark roasted caramel to chocolates with a bit of those dark fruits sneaking in there.
A roasted dry aftertaste with a bit of the dark malts hanging around on this medium bodied porter.
A pretty good tasting beer, I could use a few of these on a chilly autumn night.

A buddy brought a variety pack back from a trip to Nashville. The beer pours a nice color which was slightly less dark than Guinness, with a tan head. The rye was indeed sly - the beer wasn't as astringent as I had anticipated. While not as bitter as I would expect from a porter, I found it quite drinkable, and wouldn't hesitate to purchase it if I found it in my part of the country.
