12oz bottled Feb 4, 2011.

Pours clear copper/amber with a large off white head that leaves tons of lacing and holds a foamy island and ring.

Aroma is heavy on floral hops, a bit musty, with some bready malt. Overall the aroma is pretty weak, low to moderate strength. Gets a bit better as it warms.

Flavor is much bigger with citrus, resinous hops, good caramel malt in the middle with moderate sweetness, finishes with nice lingering bitterness.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied, oily, medium to high carbonation.

Good Hop Project, not my favorite, but solid. Odd aroma though...

Got this as an extra from grownfool... Served in my Yazoo tulip pint glass.

This is not the best hop project I've come across.
The beer has an earthy, dank quality along with a soapy and slightly astringent bitterness. The beer has a solid level of malt, mostly biscuit and pale malt. The hops taste floral and giantly bitter.

The soapiness is a big downfall for me.

The body even feels soapy and sudsy. Medium body with medium carbonation.
The beer is one of those batches that males me glad this series is a one-off.

Pours golden copper with an off-white head and a finger of head that leaves quickly. Smells floral, almost perfumey hops. The perfume part is not super appealing, though it otherwise smells fine. The taste is beyond disappointing. There is a flavorless bitterness in the finish that isn't super pleasant. A maltiness carries through the beer and helps it a bit, but the hop bitterness just doesn't seem that well executed - the bitterness is there, but not the flavor. There is also a hint of bandaid or rubber, which seems to be hard to avoid these days for beer I open. Mouthfeel seems alright, maybe a bit syrupy. Drinkability is moderate...

Thanks CurtisMcArthur for that opportunity to try this beer!

I'm not sure if this is the right number for Hop Project, since its not clearly listed on the label, but since there's a 44 written on the cap I'll assume its the right beer.

12 oz twist off bottle, dated 2nd week in February, 2011. Poured into a pint glass.

Look: clear, copper body and an aggressive pour yields a three finger, slightly off white head. There's decent retention and decent lacing.

Smell: heavy floral hops with quite a bit of malt. There's not much oomf to the smell of this one.

Taste: follows the nose with heavy floral hop character, some citrus, some resin and a good deal of bready malt and caramel malt.

Feel: very thin bodied and a bit too light in body for an IPA or even an APA. Moderately carbonated, leaves a lingering hop bitterness in the finish.

Drink: easy drinking given the light body and you could have a few of these without having an issue.

Overall, not terribly impressed by this one. Maybe the two weeks since this was bottled hasn't been kind to it. The body and lack of aggressive hop character are what hurts this one. Clearly labeling what edition of Hop Project this is on the label would've also been helpful. Cheers!
