Notes: Check out a piece of Nashville brewing history! Gerst Brewery was the original Nashville brewery, but never recovered after prohibition. We are excited to partner with the Chandler Family, owners of the Gerst Haus Restaurant, to bring this beer back right where it belongs – Nashville, Tennessee.

This is a very “clean” beer, with mostly German malts and a hint of flaked maize, remaining as true as possible to the original Gerst recipe.

this beer is literally all over the city, one of the only craft beers to appear just about everywhere, but it did very little for me, and i think i would call it the worst of the yazoo beers i had on my trip. its a generic amber ale, both thin and sweet, and therefore nothing special. for me it could have used more body and some hop balance, maybe some oats and some more bittering hops, but i dont think this is intended to wow anyone. fashioned as an every day craft beer approachable to all palates, i think its successful in that, and probably has converted its share of macro drinkers, but for me it seemed underwhelming, especially next to their red house ale, which is one of the better red beers i can recall. carbonated just fine but it feels too light for the flavors. i could see it working in a rare grilled steak context, but outside of crazy good red meat, its pretty irrelevant in the grand scheme...

Nice golden-amber color but that's about it. Tastes like bread and has a sour aftertaste. A little bit of sweet flavor would have helped. The taste is the number one priority which is why I gave it a overall rating to match the taste. Yazoo never fails to disappoint.
