Poured into a Sam Adams Bulb from a bottle. Crystal clear orange like amber with thick 2in foamy head. Lots of lace and foam for the style I thought.

Smell is hops hops hops... starts with floral and citrus notes and ends with piney aroma and maybe a slight mention of malt in the finish.

Bold flavor up front, spicy and floral that works well together. smooths out with some citrus flavor and ends with some malty sweetness but so little that it still allows the herbal hop flavor to linger.... complex and good.

medium body lots of carbonation. good for the style.

Overall this is a great IPA!!! Thanks to HippityHopHead24 for the extra!!!

A: Dark amber, burnt orange in color with almost three fingers of white head. Leaves lots of caked on lacing and a sparse film.

S: Smells like a Yazoo Hop Project, but the galaxy hops add a nice twist. Citrus, slight tropical fruits mingle with the usual caramel, sweet malts.

T: This has a nice citrus, fruity(mango?) taste on the front end that is quickly balanced out by the caramel and toasted malts. The hops come back in a back way at the end so the beer finishes very bitter. Also has a peppery flavor in here.

M: Medium bodied for a smaller IPA. Very bitter, but not terrible dry.

O: This is a nice, tasty beer, but the bitterness is something to be aware of. If you're looking for something a little different in your IPA and don't mind heavy handed bitterness, this version of Hop Project will likely sit well with you.

Bottled on Aug 9, 2011.

Pours a nice light copper color, with a one finger frothy head that dissipates quickly leaving adequate lacing.

Smells like tropical fruits, and...tropical fruits. There might be a bit of malt character in there, but the hops are large and in charge on this one.

The taste is much like the nose of this beer. A nice sweet (but not overpowering) malt flavor breaks its way through in the middle, but the hops are the star here. The tropical/citrus flavors are barely kept under control by the malts, making this a great go to IPA for me.

Yazoo's Hop Project is weird just because it changes every 2 weeks or so. Will the next batch be as good as this one? I sure hope so!

Poured into an E&J Cask & Cream glass on 9/28/11

Bottled Aug 09 '11

Hazy honey-amber color with a smooth, one finger head. The foam thins but remains puffy. Swaths of ringed lace are just fine.

Aromas of pine hops and deeper tones of grapefruit; smells just a touch oily, in terms of the hops. This is rounded by dusty biscuit and some sugar cookie sweetness. Tastes similar. Despite being bottle nearly two months ago, the hops remain content to show off a bit; piney hops grab the palate right away and leave a steadfast bitterness throughout. Doesn't seem to be much in the way of citrus though; maybe some dry zest mixed in with the pine. Bready malts show with each sip and are quickly pushed to the side. Medium feel made prickly by resin and ample carbonation.

I haven't had the pleasure of having many Hop Projects, but this is plenty enjoyable. Perhaps better the 19? Dunno, it's been too long. In any case, I'm glad I picked up two bottles.

Thanks, Bobby.

A: This one pours a murky amber color with a soapy off-white head.

S: Not a bad nose to this beer. Citrus and pine hop aromas with just a light grass not. There are some sweet fruit aromas and a little extra pine on the finish. In between, a touch of sweet caramel and bread.

T: The pine and citrus peel are fairly pronounced on the palate and bring a definite bitterness to the beer. Despite that bitterness, still some sweet caramel flavor. Overall, not a ton of actual hop flavor.

M: The body and carbonation both happen to be medium.

O: Not a bad IPA, but not a terribly good one either. Sort of middle of the road in all aspects.

Thanks to bastu for sending me this one!

Pours a slightly hazy honey orange with a 1 inch puffy orange-white head that settles to a small cap. Thin broken rings of lace line the glass on the drink down. Smell is of tropical fruit, mainly some papaya, mango, and pineapple along with a nice malty aroma. Taste is of tropical fruits at first but a herbal and pine hop flavor kicks in with some sweet malt on the finish. There is an assertive bitterness with the hops that lingers on the palate after each sip. This beer has a nice level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. A bit of a sticky, oily hop resin sticks around on the mouth. Overall, this is a pretty good IPA but the hop flavors really took me by surprise based on the tame smell this beer gives off.
