look: 3.5 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4 | overall: 4.5

Appearance: Arrives at the table with a clear golden color and a modest head that quickly drops to a ringlet and creates a polka dot pattern across the pint glass

Smell: Grainy aroma dominates with a touch of coriander

Taste: Floral and coriander flavors hit you from the moment the liquid hits the tongue and they build, after the swallow, into a heather-like spiciness with a touch of Kaffir lime leaf

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with a low, but prickly carbonation

Drinkability: Uniquely refreshing spiciness - its a wit with a twist

On tap at the brewpub.
Clear golden amber body with a minimal head.
Mild but style appropriate aroma. The flavor follows with less obvious Belgian yeast effects and more sweet malts than expected. Moderate hop level for style. Smooth, near medium body.

This batch was labeled "Royal Grand Cru," though the recipe was most likely the same. %ABV listed as 7.5%.

Clear and bright gold in color, with just a tawny ring of bubbles that leaves intriciate little webbings of lace along the glass.

A nice, sweet aroma entices with notes of plum, blueberries, and honey.

A medium-full body yields a light carbonation and slick mouthfeel. Flavors are mostly sweet, with a delicate fruitiness and a touch of honey melding with a touch of pale malt character and a hint of yeast spiciness. Finishes slightly sweet, though not cloying.

Easy-drinking but with an alcohol level that doesn't invite quaffing. This is one of the better brews that ABC puts out, and showcases a bit of experimentation and craft on the part of the brewers.

This isn't the pleasant surprise that the porter is, but it's not bad either. Something about the flavor makes me think that this is a wheat-based recipe. They also obviously used a belgian yeast given the types of ester and phenols I'm picking up in the flavor, but I'm guessing it was fermented fairly cold since the yeast flavors are very muted. It comes off as timid, like they were afraid to test their patrons with the flavors of a true Belgian. I still enjoyed it, though. Slight bubblegummy esters with a little apricot or peach. The phenols reminded me of a belgian witbier.

I had this gem at the Aiken Scottish games. It was a nice blonde color with creamy white head. The head was thick and lasted the whole drink. The smell was a little fruity, but had elements of floralness. The taste was similar, but had more in area of fruit and a tinge of alcohol to it. A lighter beer, but still had depth that a lot of lighter beers have.
