Amber Ale

Had this beer on tap at the brewery. Samples ar free which is great, but the guy described it as Killians-esck and that bothered me.
Anyways appearance is average, not alot of head but some lacing. A decent Smell and taste- appropriate amount of malts and a little hops. An unknown sour taste though that is not too appealing. Mouthfeel is decent nice medium body.
Drinkability is average.

 

 

Hazy straw golden in color. Slight beige head dwindles to nothing quickly. Not a very complex Amber, but not too bad. Aroma is more of a pilsner type of malt than caramel. Some slight noble hop tones as well. Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy. Smooth malt profile. Subtle noble hop spiciness. And a very nice drying aspect. This would make for a good session beer.

Light copper - amber hue w/ a light haze. Moderately persistent off - white head leaves a decent lace. Lots of bready and biscuit malt notes in the aroma, followed by a doughy sweetness and lightly earthy hop nose. Yeast esters are mild, but leave a hint of fruitiness. The flavor of this brew is dominated by toasted and cracker - like malt notes, while crystal malt and residual sweetness is low, lending a pleasant and crisp dryness. Hop bitterness isn't showcased and serves as a means to balance the malt profile. Mouthfeel and body is par for style. Finishes dry, w/ more pronounced toasted grain flavors. It's an interesting Amber worth checking out, but it's a bit too heavy on the Biscuit and / or Amber malt.
