Had this at the back room pub of the grubsteak in estes park> Loved the bottle label

Poured an efferevescent golden with a 2 fingers+ head. Okay head retention & good lacing

S: Floral hops & a slight malt/corny note

T: Floral hops then malty sweetness. A little more floral hops & then finishes dry

MF: Light/medium bodied, good carbonation & balance

Drank pretty easy this was on of the better beers I had from this brewery this weekend. This is a nice summer time brew

12 oz bottle. Pours a yellow gold with almost no head that quickly disappears.

The aroma is sweet corny malts.

The flavor is sweet macro malts and a little honey with some leathery bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium and watery with no carbonation.

Overall, this is actually worse than some macro lagers.

This is a clear, light brown lager with almost no visible carbonation. There was a small head which did not last.

The smell was sweet, caught a little bit of honey.

This lager is light-bodied with a mild flavor. It is sweet and very smooth with almost no hop finish. I wish there was a little more hoppiness to it.

Not a bad beer but nothing special about it either. It is growing on me though as I make my way through the glass. Lots of foamy staying head on this lager. It has a good flavor and decent aftertaste.

I like the name Staggering Elk although the label leaves a little to be desired. It's different though and I like that.

All in all a decent beer worth a taste.

A: Golden straw in color, only the slightest amount of haze, and a nice full white head. Looks nice.

S: The smell is nice, but very atypical of the style. Very sweet, bright and refreshing. It almost smells like a light sparkling wine, with a lot of berry character. While it is out of style, it certainly smells good.

T: The wine character comes in from the aroma. There is a bit of a tart berry flavor, but once that subsides there is an aftertaste of noble hops and a nice biscuity flavor. It's nice, but not amazing.

M: A little thin in body, which works for the style, and a little low on carbonation, which doesn't. The carbonation does seem to cling a bit giving a co2 burn type of feel even though the carbonation feels low.

O: Overall it isn't bad, but I don't really think it fits into the style of American Adjunct. There is a pronounced wine thing going on that is both interesting and detracting. Anyways.. I'm drinking it.

Draft, taster glass

A – Deep gold moving towards amber. Very sudsy foam stand with longer retention.

S – Spicy hops and light toast. Pretty clean. The lightest touch of malt sweetness.

T – Very bready maltiness with spicy hop flavors and bitterness bringing up the back.

M – Fairly full-bodied. Carbonation gives it a bit of a sudsy lushness. Good balance of sweet and bitter. Mildly dry finish.

O – A moderate, drinkable Czech-type lager. Not exciting, but solid.

The beer pours a very clear straw color that has almost no head. Not a great indicator that what you are about to do is going to be any good.

The beer smells crisp and has a slight DMS aroma.

Their is no hop taste or aroma.

The body is medium and somewhat oily.

Overall this was a pretty pathetic beer and was kind of watery.

Poured out of a bottle into a pint glass. Basically no head. Cloudy yellow color. Flat, very little carbonation. Not looking promising. Smells of malts and lemon, but there isn't much of a smell. Taste is terrible. Tastes like there is some kind of a lemon cleaning agent in the beer. It's a sickly sweetish maltish mash. At least there isn't a pungent aftertaste. That's about all it has going for it. The beer is flat and boring. I tried a small sample at the brewery, hoped that the bottle brought home would be better, but was disappointed with both. Avoid.

Cute name and label...but the beer sucks. My first Estes Park Beer was the Renegade IPA, which I was very impressed with. Unfortunately, quality and taste is apparently not the company promise. This lager tastes as if they went down the road to Golden and stole the recipe for Silver Bullet, and then mixed it with some Miller’s. If I was in a blind taste test, I would have picked this out as a macro from BMC, or worse.

Okay LOOKING beer: solid amber clear body under an ample eggshell head. However, this is the beer's best quality.

Smell is skunky sour-bitter, with a note of cracker malt; and the taste follows suit very precisely, except for being even more skunky.

Average mouthfeel for a lager. Very average.

However, this is a very unspectacular beer, one I will not have again.

Tried this on-tap at the brewery tasting room. Poured clear golden color, with a thick, white head on it. Aromas of nicely balanced malt and hops. The sweetness of the malt won out upon tasting. Finished sweet as well; very light carbonation. Seems like you could sip a pint of this easily. Overall, a very mellow beer, one that would be good to drink, but doesn't stand out amongst the rest of the Estes Park Brewery offerings.

12 ounce bottle. Staggering Elk lager pours out a clear yellow color with no head. The aroma is lime and soap. It's not pretty. There's just a hint of a malty flavor, but it's quickly overwhelmed by a sweet lime flavor. No hops at all. I can find no redeming characteristics in this beer. It's really awful. I'm not sure how fresh this beer is, since there is no info on the bottle. However, fresh or not, I doubt I'll go near this one again. A drain pour for sure.

Thin, slightly off white head with a crisp, light malty aroma. Low but present levels of Dms in both nose and mouth. Nice balance of malt over earthy hops. Smooth bitterness follows malt sweetness. Low but fitting carbonation and ends with a smooth but short finish.

Nothing too special here. This was part of a sampler six pack a friend gave me. Although I did discover some new beers I liked as part of this pack, this was not one of them. It reminded me of Leine's "Sunset Wheat" which I am not a fan of either. The main thing that turned me off was the "fruity, wheat" taste. The taste of berries is certainly one that fits in a lot of beers but here it was a little off or almost a little unnatural which is strange since this is an organic beer. If I am looking for a off the beaten path, lower alcohol beer where I can polish a bunch of them off, I have other options other than this.

Hilarious art work on the label and a great story behind this beer.

Copper body, light chill haze with a bubbly tan head. Aromas of lager yeast, heavy fruity sweetness, caramel malt. Eh...mediocre flavor at best. Caramel malt and sweet fruity booze. Pass.
