The color of light auburn jelly, a real battle to create any head, what does appear quickly goes away... Whiffs of raspberry jam, wheat and chlorine hit the nose a sweetness about the whole thing sets up a very fruity palate indeed. Berries and wheat, wheat and berries explains the flavor here the fruit likeness to a cheap cran razz juice box. Also in the back is that strange chemical flavor that I named as chlorine in my scent. Watery and sticky at the same time the body is very light with minimal carbonation.

I could put it just above average as fruit beer goes, but that chemical flavor kinda worries me.

I could see it being a stellar hot weather lake/beach/4th of July beer or something to that nature.

12 oz bottle. Pours a hazy golden orange with no head at all.

The aroma is sweet raspberries and honey with a little wheat and malt.

The flavor is some plasticy skunky malts with raspberry flavor and a chemical bitter finish. The mouthfeel is medium and watery with no carbonation.

Overall, this was much better on tap at the brewery. There it was very fruity and one-dimensional but decent. In the bottle, it's pretty nasty. I did get this bottle from the brewery just last week.

12 oz bottle poured into a weiss glass. No date or info.

A - A vigorous pour yields only a small off-white head that has very poor retention but at least leaves a tiny bit of lace. The color has a light haze to the pale straw yellow and a drop of pink hue to it.

S - Hints of dry wheat poke out from behind the burst of raspberry that's a blend of fresh fruit and sugary syrup. Little else is here and the more I smell it, the more syrupy it becomes.

T - Not as raspberry-full as it smells, this wheat beer leans more towards a dry wheat and grain flavor with a small splash of dry, tart raspberry juice. No syrupy flavor at all.

M - Long's Peak is dry and a touch on the tart side with a moderately crisp and very light-bodied finish.

D - The flavor surprised me as it was much, much less raspberry than the aroma let on. The light body and crisp character leads to it's ease of drinkability but it's a really mediocre beer.

Draft, taster glass

A – Medium straw, slightly hazy. Small white foam stand with moderate retention.

S – Raspberry is very prominent. Some light bready malt with light floral hops.

T – Sweet bready malt, light raspberry, with that character staying mostly in the aroma. Floral hop flavor very light in the mix.

M – Well-carbonated with a moderately full body thanks to the wheat. Sudsy. Stays pretty juicy throughout.

O – Everything here is very light, very mild, except the raspberry aroma, which is prominent but relatively subdued. A well-balanced, light, fruity wheat beer.

Poured into a snifter.

The body is orange-tinted hazy yellow. The very aggressive pour yielded just barely a finger of head which dissipated quickly leaving a bits of foam on the surface.

Smells of light sweet raspberry jam with hints of light grains. A little swirl produces a very faint hop aroma in addition to those mentioned above.

The flavors are light and sweet, which raspberry and very light malt and touch of wheat malt being the most prevalent. There is no hop flavor and only a very small bit of hop bitterness. This flavor leans hard to the sweet side of the spectrum, but not so far that it loses points for drinkability.

The mouthfeel is actually quite smooth, and from the slight sediment in the bottle I think this may be bottle conditioned. If so, I salute Estes Park brewery. The carbonation is compact (opposite of diet-soda) and is quite nice.

Conclusion: This is a fairly good easy drinking raspberry beer made from fruit extract. It doesn't take the subtle fruit route, and when beers do this I expect the fruit flavors to be top notch. In this beer they are pretty good, but not outstanding. In my opinion, adding a little honey and some brett for bottle conditioning would blow this beer's flavor off the scale.

Flat, uninspired appearance.Yellow-orange color. Pleasant, sweet raspberry smell though. Smell is quite strong but not overpowering. Almost makes up for the appearance. Raspberry-wheat flavor, avoids being too sweet. There is hardly any carbonation, so it's a little insipid. Unlike many fruit-based beers, I could probably have a couple in one sitting. Probably not good enough that I'd order it again though.

Ordered this beer at a local Estes Park restaurant. No freshness date on the bottle. Poured a pale yellow color, with light cloudiness and a very small white head. Strong aromas of honey and fruit, although the raspberry itself didn't stand out too much. The fruit flavors balanced well with the malt, although I couldn't detect any taste of the hops, which might have helped the balance. Nice soft, sweet aftertaste, though. Very little carbonation, highly sippable. Although I've tasted better raspberry wheats before, I would definitely order another one of these.

12 ounce bottle. Pours out a mostly clear yellowish color with a fast fading head. The aroma is sweet and fruity with raspberries, obviously. The flavor is quite bland. There is some raspberry flavor, and a little bit of stale tasting wheat, but other than that, this beer is flavorless. No hop flavor. Mouthfeel is very light. Carbonation is slightly low. From the aroma, I thought this beer would have more flavor, but it turned out to be just a boring, light wheat beer. I'll pass on this in the future.

Pours a clear golden in color with a rocky white head. Aroma of pungent hops, wheat malt, and hints of raspberry, along with a sweet floral smell. Thinnish mouthfeel. Light wheat flavor initially followed by hints of raspberry. Despite a seemingly hoppy nose, this ale is rather lightly hopped. Gentle on the palate. Overall, a pretty bland raspberry wheat, that could use a little more flavor profile.

This goes down easy. An excellent beer for cooking in hot weather or just sitting out in hot weather. certainly not something id have all the time, but a nice mix in.
raspberry came strong on the nose and was pretty strong going down. grains were nicely mixed in.
not sure if i just expected something bad and thats why i enjoyed it as well as i did.

Light and clear blonde color with a thin white head. The nose is very vague wheat/malt aroma. The flavor is much the same with distant hints of wheat grist and an even smaller raspberry flavor. Very light bodied with little carbonation. Lacks personality and ends with a short tasteless finish.

Notes from a trip to Colorado and Wyoming - May 2002 Purchased in Estes Park, CO

Color is a light reddish orange, with very little head presence, it more or less just sat had some bubbles foaming on the top. Smells of arificial raspberries, even though the guy said they used real ones, but it sure didn't smell like it. Taste was OK, nothing to strong about the raspberry and tasted real, the wheat has a pretty strong presence giving it a stale muffin or bagel feel and taste in the end. It was OK but I was glad I only had the one.

A: Clouded gold color. Poured a 1 finger white head that dissipated fairly quickly to a thin skim. Thin and broken lacing.

S: Cut grass, raspberry sweetness, citrus and wheat. Not a lot going on.

T: Rasberry much clearer in the taste. Wheat comes through quickly followed by a lingering artificial aftertaste.

M: Thin body. Ample carbonation.

D: I would have a bit of trouble with the sweetness and artificial finish to drink again (or more than 1).
