Hand-delivered to Moscow by a colleague who visited Samarkand, this brew came in a 1.5 liter brown plastic bottle with a silver label featuring a white leopard wearing wings with front paws perched on a beer keg. The name is in English, while all of the rest of the label information is in Uzbek. The list of ingredients consisted of three items Im guessing malt, water and hops. Best before 12/11/03, I opened it on 11/15/03.
Slightly cloudy gold under a bubbly white head that displayed good retention, but no lace. The nose is a bit sour, with some malt tones. The mouth is heavy and medium-carbonated. The taste is mildly sour, but not from being bad. This is what its supposed to be like. Theres a bit of malt buried in there somewhere, while the hops come out slightly harsh, but disappear quickly. The aftertaste is very mild, holding only the sourish tones. Certainly not something to request again from the next traveler to Uzbekistan.
