Go here for liquor not for beer. If your goal is to save a buck or two per six pack (or stock up for a party) then this isn't a bad place, but you'd be better off putting your dollars toward a local shop instead because you'll never get anywhere here. The rare stuff has a way of *ahem* disappearing before it ever sees the floor. If you want to go big box you're better off at Total Wine or Whole Foods. And if not there are a ton of local liquor stores that'll treat you better

Selection is usually pretty good. There beer is disorganized at best as it is in 2 separate locations. Bombers in the front, 6 packs in the back. Most of the staff is helpful. It is serviceable but nothing special

I would stop in here for liquor, wine, and food stuffs. The beer selection is ok, certainly not worth waiting in line to get into the parking lot (which can run a good bit down the shoulder of Route 17), around holidays or incoming storms.

With other places right of the highway in Ramsey or Mahwah, unless there is no traffic, I would hit someplace else up, unless you were also shopping for food, or wine.

This place is right off of Rt. 17, (East side/north bound),
but more huge selection of wine and mighty fine prices.

A few imports and craft beers, both in coolers
and stocked, but not exciting.

I was shocked and impressed with the level of wine
variety and cheeses.

The staff was fine, offered me assistance but
other customers pointed me to the beer and
also made wine suggestions.

Not exactly a beer snobs paradise, but honestly
would only go back for beer when I was grabbing
some wine for my wife.

I visited this location about a year ago and felt so-so about it then, so I decided to scope it out again this afternoon and see if the selection improved beyond Bud and Bud-clones. My opinion has not changed.

This place is a real stinker for domestic craft beer and quality old world imports. Myopic selection of small brewers, almost all readily available in a local supermarket.

Unless you're shopping for wine, dont waste your time stopping - this place is not worth the aggrevation and danager of getting on and off horrible Route 17.

This is one of my least favorite Bottle King locations in Northern New Jersey. The beer manager knows so little about craft beer that it makes me laugh. I remember when he passed on a 2 cases of Black OPS 08' because it was "too expensive and people would never buy it!" but fortunately the distributor took it to Ramsey Liquors after that and I bought a full case from them!

Standard Belgian imports and US Micros are available along with US macros. You aren't going to find any hidden gems here but you will find enough craft beer to get you by if you don't have a better option.

Quality: It is like a wholesale club for alcohol, so one needs to take that into account when writing a review. It has a lot of value for a place that is offering mostly in bulk.
Service: The staff has always been helpful with questions.
Selection: This is where it gets tough. They have a good mix of commercial stuff and small amount of craft beer. I might count it against them but the fact is it is difficult to offer an expansive selection when you buy in bulk. The value is top notch.
You can really get a good amount of beer for a very cheap rate. They also have some glassware that can be of some use. Great for planning parties and cook outs.

This was my stockup shop when I was attending Ramapo College.

The beer selection isn't necessarily amazing, basically, coolers in the back and a corner with a decent number of cases, with the associated discounts clearly advertised.

In the coolers, selections include:

Chimay
Lindemans
Unibroue
Aventinus
Chouffe
Sam Smiths
Brooklyn
Dogfish Head
Flying Dog
Anchor
River Horse
Saranac
Flying Fish

And of couse, BMC and standard imports

The cases:

BMC and standard imports
Flying Fish
River Horse
Troegs
Flying Dog
Victory

...and others

Prices are reasonable, and service is good, although wine-buyers would find more in this store.

Bottle King is a quick stop off Route 17 North, just past the Hess gas station. They have a decent selection that focuses on New Jersey beers, which is cool. River Horse, Ramstein, Flying Fish, along with Brooklyn, Troegs, and Otter Creek cases fill a large section in the back. Here is where you may find some discounts if you join the Bottle King Discount club. ItÂ’s free and easy. The large coolers on the right keep cold the basics like Sierra, Anchor, Magic Hat and a good mix of micros/imports. There is also a small section of bottles stored upright on shelves next to the spirits section. They have all the Belgium 750mls and some Rouge offerings here. The price is very good for the area, plus their wine and cheese selection is really great to check out. The Bottle King in Ramsey is a very cool chain store I recommend visiting.

This is a large, well lit store, off of Rt 17 N in north NJ, unfortunatly high quality beer is not much more then an after thought. Tons of wine, champagne, booze, and gourmet foods, but the beer selection is pretty pedestrian and I wouldn'd say lame, more like, uninspired and boring. They have a wide variety of very ordinary brews, but they have next to nothing beyond the bare essentials and tons of macro cases and 12ers.I walked every aisle hopping to find that hidden cache of exciting brews, but never found it. I also was never asked if I needed any help, by the staff that was busy restocking the coors light display and wine shelves. I'll hit route 59 liquors behind the Palisades mall next time instead.

You're heading down Rte 17 southbound from the New York line and you hit this hill where, just as you crack the summit, you can get the first view of the Manhattan skyline from out about 25 miles NorthNorthWest of the city. It's good stuff. Yeah, well anyway, that's where Bottle King is (although it's in the Northbound lane so you have to go a little bit and turn around).
Mostly wine and liquor, with beer to the rear.
Decent selection of standard local and regionals (Ramstein, Riverhorse, Weyerbacher, Troegs, Stoudts, Brewery Hill, Brooklyn, Otter Creek, Saranac, Harpoon, Dogfish Head, Allagash, Flying Fish, Magic Hat) and Anchor, Sierra and others.
Some usual suspect Germans (Franziskaner, Weihenstephaner, Schneider) and Belgians (Chouffe, Lindeman's Cuvee Rene) and Unibroue, Sam Smith and more.
They've got a corner with good beer specials (SN Bigfoot '04 for $30 a case) and up front they've got a large area with a very extensive selection of meats, an array of cheeses and chocolates, too. Very nice.
