After a long day hiking, this one hit the spot. Rich malty flavor, but light. Easy to drink and would have another.

Seriously authentic Irish stout here. Great beer for the nine months a year it's cold in the mountains, and goes really well with a burger. Definitely better than mass-market dry stouts.

actually poured from a half nitro half regular carbon dioxide tap, or so im told. the color is more brown than black, still impenetrable to light, and the head is only about a half inch high with mediocre retention. the nose is bitter and roasty, not hoppy but burnt on the barley front. a touch of smoke too. the flavor is also quite bitter, and its not dry at all, especially for the genre. it actually has some residual sugar hanging around long after the swallow, which hurts it I think. there is a sort of brown sugar syrupy thing going on too which is a little out of place. I think full nitro would have helped this beer. its got a huge body but the carbonation came across a little flat. overall not a bad beer at all, but it isn't a standout. I will be looking elsewhere for a perfect dry irish stout this year for st pattys day.
