Picked up a sixer on my last trip to Yakima. This bottle poured a hazy copper hue with a whiff of white foam that leaves an abundance of lacing on the glass.

The aroma is huge and bright. Musky grapefruit, fleshy tangerine and a hint of sweet malt.

The taste bursts with hop flavors. There's sweet citrus flavors followed by a gentle malt profile. The malt is there providing the platform for the hops to leap, but asks for no recognition. It steps aside and allows for a clean, dry and bitter finish.

It's been a while since I've been surprised by an IPA, and this one is abundantly bitter and citrusy while still being unique. The first one reminded me a little of Grant's, which almost offended me with it's directness. This is direct but pleasant. It's too bad I'll have to go back to Yakistan to get some more.

Aged from August. Pours a dark yellow-orange, little carbonation. Aroma, something astringent alcoholesque, not the best smell. Taste, very bitter. Not so much in terms of hop quality or dry hopping flavor, must use something in a long hop boil.

Definitely let's you know it's there, good alcohol and bitterness quotient. Not quite balanced. Had a lot better IPAs, but still I guess this is a tad better than your average beer. Drinking it fresh doesn't seem to matter, its all about the bitterness and not so much the flavor. Marginally average.

Bought a 12oz bottle of this at a supermarket in Kennewick (I believe it was a Yoke's) the day after a night before spent at the Ice Harbor brew pub, in the old downtown area. I believe I had this on tap, but at the same time as a number of their other offerings, so no review for any of the drafts. The waitress told me that the IPA cask at the pub is different than the IPA in the bottle, but didn't elaborate, and I didn't pursue (the beer question, or the waitress...) Anyways, I've had this in the fridge since September, time to bust it out.

Right away I could see the sediment in the bottle, but no worries about that. Poured carefully into my Laughing Dog pint glass (another souvenir of that trip), this beer produced a healthy 3 fingers of off-white head, and was a beautiful hazy faded orange colour. Beers that look like this one did have always seemed to turn out well. (That's called foreshadowing, folks...) Some of the sediment from the pour settled as I looked at it, clouding it up further. Taking a whiff of this once the head disappeared a few minutes later, I knew I was in for a treat. This smelled amazing, the dry hopping really doing the trick - lovely grapefruit and pine, all present and accounted for. Taking a sip, I was pleasantly surprised that this wasn't an overwhelming hop bomb. It was all creamy, citrusy, and oily hop goodness, but all in even balance with a nice reserved maltiness. Very moderate carbonation, and well hidden alcohol - I had to pace myself, or this would have been done straight away.

I had to be selective in what I brought back across the border upon heading home from the Tri Cities, and I knew there'd be at least a few single selections for which I would wish I'd purchased a six-pack. Boy, is this one of them - I'm sure I could session this IPA all night long.

Appearance: medium-gold. Medium foamy-head, nice lacing that is persistent.

Smell: nothing really stands out.

Taste: not much malt profile but hoppy. Piney aftertaste. Alcohol at the back end. Balanced well. But pretty bitter.

Mouthfeel: medium carbonation. Medium, nice body. Think Elle McPherson.

Overall: good IPA. Needs a little less bittering and more aroma. But good

Appearance: (4.0)

- Pours a very lightly cloudy straw yellow and copper zesty orange.. like a west coast number. Not much head, but sits nicely with scattered foam and a bit of a ring of lace. Overall simple, and not a lively overcarbonated drinking bomb.

Smell: (3.0)

- Lovely grain aroma, slight roasty touch with a caramel back, and more bready malt and biscuit. The hops fair well, but don't show any face in the aroma. Slight grassy and herbal aromas maybe.

Taste: (3.5)

- Lovely biscuit and fruity yeast/malt base with a grassy and herbal bitter flare. Lovely malt notes without being overly sweet and sugar-like. Lots of bready base malt, and a lot of balance. Taste is quite good.

Mouth Feel: (4.0)

- This is a nicely carbonated brew with a chewy medium body. It is only a touch dry, but makes the tongue work a little, and demands another taste. Really well put together feel. The balance makes it creamy, and just right.

Overall: (3.5)

- The beer is brewed super well, it looks perfect almost, and has just that. The hop profile is just a tad short for me... maybe not the bittering hops, but the aroma. This should be dry-hopped with a dose of Amarillo... or what they used in the boil. Solid feel, very nice to drink, and balanced... just a little more bready malt-forward for me.. and I like bready malt!

Poured into a Black Raven pint glass. Pours a cloudy coppery orange amber. A slight gusher out of the bottle on opening. Resulted in an active pour with a massive white head that ended up a 1/4" above the glass with good retention. Looked kinda cool. Dissipated slowly leaving a moderate head and massive lacing. Aroma was present on the pour with pineapple, bready malt and decent herbal hops. Flavor is sweet malt with a heavy dose of pine and citrus hops, hops are dominant, leaving a rather dry, hoppy, citrus and bitter finish. There seems to be a saison-like faint funkiness in the aftertaste, probably due to the intense fresh hops. I lean towards maltier IPAs, and this is somewhat unbalanced towards the hops for me. However, the fresh hop flavor and overall taste balance still won me over. Medium bodied, with the mouth feel improved by active carbonation. A nicely made and attractive Northwest IPA.

22 oz bottle from Roth’s Sunnyslope Market in S. Salem. $4.79 This has a new label compared to the page and is 6.7% alc. Pours a nice slightly hazy orange colour with a large ,thick and frothy off white head. Nice aromas, of resiny/piney hop along side good bold caramel malt profiles. Quite balanced in the taste.. malts and hops combine well but the pine driven hop comes though in the end to dominate. Godd clean palate well carbonated and slightly dry in the end..long lasting hop aftertaste. Nice PNW IPA..not bad at all.

Dark yellow and light orange combo with a 1/5" white head on the top that goes away slyly. Aroma was boozy, bitter, not inviting.

Taste was hot alcohol, high bitterness, crystal malt caramel and toffee feels. Another one of 'those' ipas.

Thanks for sharing, Gil.

A: The pour is an orange-amber color with a finger of white head.

S: Starts off with a bit of citrus peel and floral hops. There is a light herbal note and pine, too. Although there are a decent number of different hop notes, the aroma is dominated by the sweet maltiness.

T: A pretty bland flavor. Lots of cracker and bready malt flavors with very little in terms of hop flavors. A bit of bitterness, some floral and pine hop notes, and some more sweetness of toffee malts.

M: Light bodied with a medium level of carbonation.

O: Lackluster. Not something I'd care to try again.

On tap at the Green Lantern today.

The beer pours a peachy orange color with good head retention and lacing. The nose is pretty impressive, with considerable dry citrus, pepper and some underlying earthiness. There is some light malt noticeable as well, something that showed up even more prominently on the palate. Otherwise, the flavor profile replicated the nose, and although there was some noticeable sweetness on the mid palate, there was more than enough bitterness to dry the beer out on the finish. Mouthfeel was medium bodied at most, with a fairly long, bitter, slightly alcoholic finish.

While nothing extraordinary, this was a pretty solid, easy to appreciate and enjoy IPA.

This beer was received from dnichols. Thanks bud!

Pours a nice orange with a creamy white head! The smell is pretty hoppy and has a slight bread taste. Weird! The taste is a mild hoppy brew but that damn bread taste is still there. I like this beer but I've never encountered this taste before. The mouthfeel is full but doesnt last a long time. This beer is a lovely extra and super drinkable.

Overall, I liked this beer! Thanks dnichols! This is another decent IPA. Not the best BUT its still a nice brew!

Attractive amber brew with lots of foam and lacing with every pour in the conical snifter. It settles down rather quickly but leaves a frothy mouthfeel with plenty of carbonation. Interesting mild aroma of sweet flowers and fresh straw.

Pleasant malty base with a nice sweetness to go with the hops. Finishes with a deep resiny hop flavor. Spritzy and fruity like pear cider. Hints of mango and apple. Moderately bitter aftertaste with an acidic edge. A very drinkable IPA with plenty of hops and a more friendly sort of flavor. From the 22 oz bottle bought at Bottleworks in Seattle.

Poured from 12oz bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: hazy orange hue with plenty of effervescence and a thick finger of frothy ivory foam. A good look for an IPA.

Smell: resiny, citrusy hops sit atop a moderately sweet malt backbone. An uncomplicated foresty aroma -- I like it a lot.

Taste: a rich malt flavor with a bit of a musty quality. Hops are bright and citrusy as well as a little bit resiny and funky. The overall combination works very well. The bitterness is strong but not grating; quite tasty indeed.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a good amount of well-integrated carbonation. Creaminess is very good, especially for the style.

Overall: this is a well-above-average IPA, and it tastes like a Washington or Oregon IPA. Kudos to the folks in Kennewick for this one.

Poured a light copper to orange with a thin white head that stuck around. Smell was hoppy but a hint of malt. Taste was excellent, a lot of hops but not very bitter. Taste was capitalized by a crisp, clean piney taste. Very good texture, though a little thin. I am not a big fan of IPA's but sometimes I find one that I can enjoy. This is one of the enjoyables, but it may be a little hoppy for a session beer.
