This is a rich full-bodied American amber ale with a delicate fruity flavor. The sweetness is carefully balanced with Cascade, Willamette and Tettnanger hops from the Yakima Valley. The beer derives its color and caramel flavor from Crystal and Carastan malts. It’s a delicious beer for the real beer drinker.

I sampled this beer from the tap at the brew pub in Kennewick, WA.
A: It poured a bright amber with an off-white head that produced a rich curtain of lacing.
S: It emitted a strong aroma of sweet fruity lightly toasted malts and a moderately floral hop aroma that was hidden by the smell of the malts.
T: It was dominated by lightly toasted and sweet malts that were light and not sticky. It had a good balance between the malts and hops such that neither were overpowering and the hops provided a citrusy zest to the brew rather than a bitter or sour flavor.
M: It was light to medium bodied with a sweet tangy presence in the mouth and a clean crisp aftertaste.
D: This is a happy amber...a joy to drink and one damn fine beer.

Taster at Ice Harbor Marina. Amber pour, thin layer of off white head. Light malty aroma, caramel, toasty. Taste brings light brown bread notes, dry and mildly sweet.

Red ale, red appearance, thin off white 1/5" head. Aroma hid that mossy, peaty red malt thing.
Nice and drier than usual, thankfully, I dislike the way a red ale can bog down the palate mouthfeel. This is an easier drinking red, not overly hopped unfortunately. This is like one step, half step maybe up from Killians. Not quite that thin, but in that vein.

Thanks to woemad for this one. Lightly hazy red color. good basic grains, with gentle hops on the nose. A bit more hop tang on the tongue. Typical medium body. Smooth, even body, easy drinkibility.

Poured on tap into a pounder pint. It is a typical red amber hue. Filtered with a nice thick creamy head that stays as long as you allow it. It has a nice caramel malt sweet nose. Flavors are rich caramel malts, many malts, with a creamy wet mouth feel. Overall this is a great representation of its category. On par with Mac and jacks amber and a new favorite.

Nice almost glowing red appearance, good clarity, good color, thin head. Aroma was irish moss and sweet malt that tends to be frequent in reds.
Good dry crispness to it, makes me think those green Washington apples, ample sweetness. Would liked to have seen a bigger hop presence, even if not being in line with a traditional red. Ended up getting a little pase and thin towards the end. Liked the first 6oz. more than the last. Would like to see an amped up version, more caramel, more hops, more substance, but it does the trick if you like a traditional red.

follow up review, bottled version purchased at brewery, poured into unchilled pint glass, 2.15.10.
1/2 finger white head, quick dissipation, minimal lacing. Clear amber body, no visible carbonation. The nose features fruity (cherry) esters and bready malts, perhaps some floral hops. Taste features a bit of spicy hops, bready malts, fairly dry finish. Watery mouthfeel. Quite drinkable, which could be it's salvation, except for overall lack of taste. In retrospect, something I won't willingly order again, on tap or in bottles. Pass.

12 oz bottle courtesy of dnichols. Poured into a Brooklyn tulip tumbler. Nice thick finely carbonated head with lots of lacing. A cloudy ruddy amberish liquid with light carbonation.
Smell is light sweet malt, bready with yeasty notes. Gentle floral hops mix with faint fruityness.
Taste is light sweet malty goodness with a subtle hop balance. More floral hops in the crisp finish with lingering notes of crackers and bread. A hint of sour/tannic bits
Mouthfeel is light and crisp with gently and fine carbonation.
Just enough weight to keep it interesting.
Drinkability is excellent and makes this a superb session beer.

I bought six-pack of Runaway Red at the brewery several weeks ago. Poured in to a pint glass.
Pours and orange/auburn color and is an unfiltered hazy, especially after swirling the sediment off the bottom of the bottle.
Smell is a fruity citrus aroma with a hint of pine and a dairy scent, like ice cream.
Taste is good, with a zippy hop bitterness up front, with a sweet malt flavor, then a sweet and sour aftertaste.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, smooth and fairly dry.
A very drinkable brew, and a style that is not real common. I would have this again for sure.

Runaway Red packs a luscious fruit basket aroma thats chock full of strawberry, cherry, raspberry fruit leather, and just a bit of Kool Aide and bubblegum. Similarly, the taste has red fruits everywhere with only nominal (25 IBU) bittering and minimal CO2.
The color is hypnotic crimson with deep clarity. But my pint couldnt offer any head or lace to speak of, which is a shame. That kind of detailing would push this one a little higher in the ranks. Still, Runaways taste is precisely what I believe a red ales should be. Very nice.

Bottle purchased from Huckleberry's in Spokane. Poured an orangy-amber color, slightly cloudy looking when held up to the light. Modest white head that fled within a couple of minutes, though a nice, foamy ring endured. Nice lacing on my glass. The nose is primarily sweet malts. Elements of caramel and mild fruitiness are notable. Taste is of caramel and a little bit of pear and apple fruitiness, with a nice, crisp dry finish. Not really being an afficionado of red ales, I'm not certain of how faithful this is to the style, but it strikes me as a nice beer to quaff, and I think it would make an excellent session beer.

Red amber color, medium white foamy head. Aroma is malty and fruity. Full bodied, nicely malted with some malt sweetness. Lightly hopped, with a good sharp hop signature. Good malt and hop balance. Finish is smooth and clean. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Copper-bronze body, classic amber ale appearance. Nice if small head, medium foam
Aroma very malty, hoppy & spicy. Nice 'beer funky' nose
Medium finish, crisp body. Malty & fruity, with hoppy bite that provides the 'just right' finish. Light, crisp and tasty, easy to drink, it's a very good amber ale.

As it breathes away in the glass, a cloudless amber to copper color, with a modest head that vanishes leaving behind a fine sheet of lace to cover the glass. Mostly malt in the nose, some caramel candy tones and pleasant enough, with the start cloyingly sweet and the top skeletal in mouth feel. Finish noblely hopped, also bitingly acidic, dry aftertaste, drinkable but offers little to me.
