Style: Dunkelweizen

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.00%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
This dark Weissbier retains its aromatic character thanks to the select choice of Hallertau aroma hops and highest quality Bavarian wheat and dark barley malts.

Its characteristic, distinctive maroon colour is a feast for the eyes. Then there’s the opalescence and fine structure of the yeast turbidity. The perfect complement is provided by the very creamy, fine pored head. This dark Weissbier from the Holy Mountain will delight connoisseurs with a harmonious interplay of fruity odours, above all ripe bananas and pineapple, with undertones of caramel and cocoa.

Andechser Weissbier Dunkel teases the tongue with a delicate tanginess carried by a round, soft body. A light caramel sweetness harmonises well with the fine hoppy bitterness. It concludes on a soft and refreshing note.

Beautiful dunkelweizen, as expected from Andechs. Smoky, chocolate aroma, velvety beige head, and crisp espresso bitterness. Doesn’t get much better than this.

Pours a murky hazelnut brown color, with a medium sized, froth head.

Smells of unripe banana and earth covered cherries, together with a decent spiciness. Offers a subtle smokiness with more, riper banana.

Has a higher carbonation with an utmost soft mouthfeel to it, due to the mellowing yeast pillow, building the foundation of this, together with a stony mineral quality to it.

Tastes of banana peel thrown onto forest earth, while offering smoked ham underneath, adding a unique twist to the earth. Together with an incredible smoothness, peppery spices and minerals become visible, resulting into an enjoyable refreshment. Finishes very clean, with earthy malts and a subtle sourness, providing a silk aqueous softness.

This is an easy drinker with a lot of strongheaded character to it. Never experienced smoked malts and banana in the same drink before, but it works out really well, with yeast balancing the taste throughout.

Poured into wheat beer glass. The color is cola-brown with orange hues, with a thick, creamy light tan head and nice lacing which did not dissipate. It has an aroma of wheat, bready malt, banana, and a touch of vanilla. The taste follows the nose but with a hint of caramel and nuts. It's tangy and slightly bitter at the finish. It is medium-bodied, lightly carbonated, and very easy to drink at 5% ABV. Overall, it is pleasant but not my favorite style of German ale.

Poured from 16.9 OZ bottle into a pint glass. This is an awesome dunkel. the appearance is a very reddish amber with a minimal white head. The aroma is all fruit and malt. The flavor is malt, spice and fruit and a real joy to drink.
