Notes / Commercial Description:
Since Saint Joseph’s Day on 19 March 1993, Andechs Weissbier Hell has found many new friends. Untreated and bottled in its natural state of yeasty turbidity, this is a top fermented beer for the epicure.

Its light honey colour makes it an immediate eyecatcher. Then there’s the opalescence and fine structure of the yeast turbidity. At the same time, the creamy, fine pored head invites you to get to know this light Weissbier from the Holy Mountain. You’ll need two takes to enjoy the aromas to the full.

First, distinctive fruity aromas like banana and honeydew melon come to the fore, followed by fine cloves. Andechser Weissbier Hell is a very tangy, refreshing treat with the conviction of a full, soft body. It concludes on a finely balanced interplay of light sweet honey and a delicate acidity with undertones of bitter hoppiness that quickly subside into a harmonious aftertaste.

A Weissbier that embodies a slice of the Andechs lifestyle: finely yeasty, tangy, and sparkling, it refreshes and renews the thirst for more

On tap into a Weizen glass. Very hazy golden color with a thick and long lasting head. I got more clove and wheat on the aroma, but there was faint banana. The taste had the same elements but the flavors were less bright than expected. Soft feel and easy drinking. Overall a nice beer but not at the level of the greats.

From a 500ml bottle. Great appearance - cloudy golden color and a finger of fluffy white head. Smells of clove, banana, straw, and yeast. Medium feel with lots of carbonation. Tastes of wheat, banana, and a little bit of sourness. Excellent.

One of the best looking pours for the style I have seen, pours into a weizen glass an orange tinged light lemon color with a large blooming sticky white head, just a fantastic looking rocky top to the beer.Toasted wheat malts with not a whole lot of yeasty phenols to intrude, only a smattering of clove and that honey dew melon and a slight sour/lemon tinge in the finish.Really like the feel not overly light,a little umph. This is a very refined hefeweizen that honestly no one outside of Bavaria could make, not a huge fan of the style but this is a gem.

I have only had around 11-13 different German hefeweizens and this is clearly one of the best ones I have had. I had the pleasure of trying both a 2 month old bottle of this beer as well as a 2 month old Weihenstephaner hefeweizen. It was a close score between the two but I have to admit that the Andechser Weissbier Hell took home the gold medal that evening. A fresh 3 months old or younger bottle of this is one of the best hefeweizens that you can get your hands on. I am sure there are a few other really good hefeweizens in Germany that I have not been able to try though. This deserves a lower end of world class grade let's say somewhere between (95-97) Cheers! A (95-99) world class score

Bottle, poured into pint glass.

Hazy, blond color. Low foam. Good carbonation.

Typical light Bavarian beer. Good quality. Smooth taste. Seems more on the unfiltered side. Slight fruity/banana taste that is right strength -- doesn't overwhelm the beer.

Solid Bavarian beer.
