Our India Pale Ale is hopped 3 times giving it a floral aroma. Handcrafted by our brewmaster using eight English specialty malts.

Had on tap at SBC Brewery & Restaurant in Branford, pour yields a nice amber in color, head size is minimal with decent lacing. Smell is of sweet citrus properties, a bit of orange zest, malt stands firm in the nose, more balanced in the nose then I like my IPA's, but still nice smelling. Taste is a nice balance of crystal malt with some grapefruit, passionfruit and some orange. Very velvety on the tongue from the maltiness. Slight breadiness is here and stays in tact nicely. Mouthfeel is a bit thicker for an IPA, obviously more malt enriched, slightly chalky bitterness with decent carbonation. Overall, a nicely balanced IPA but needs to have a bit more hop like properties to make it a winner.

Clear amber / orange in color. Thin wispy 1/8" head, but a touch of lacing did develop in the glass. Carbonation seemed low. The aroma was of mild floral hops. The flavor was definitely off balance. Malt level seemed strong, while citrus and bitterness levels were very weak. I even picked up some more caramel tones as the drink warmed a bit.

The mouthfeel was lightly crisp. Finish was smooth and dry. Malt tones lingered around a while. Not very enjoyable so drinkability is way down on the scale here.

I stopped in for some beers after work today. The IPA is one I havent reviewed yet so I select it. The beer is cool and in a regular glass. Color is a dark rich mahogany and some minimal off white head exists on the edge of the beer. Not too much aroma at all but some light grassy hops are present after a deep sniff.
First sip reveals a slightly thicker than average body and average carbonation. The flavor is not as expected with malt flavors up front of caramel and some chocolate even. There is a mix with grassy and some citrusy hops for the finish but this dissipates to a clean and slightly empty finish. The flavor was good it jsut faded way to quick in my opinion. The beer is enjoyable if you drink it fast enough to keep the flavor fresh on your palate, but I wish it stuck around a little longer. A nice burp reintroduces the hops towards the end of the sampling.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't an IPA usually have hops in it? What do you call an IPA w/ no hops in it? You call it Southport Indian Neck IPA! I guess the brewer was so busy thinking of a trendy name that he forgot to hop his beer! Another world class disappointment from brewers who should go work for Budweiser.

Not a bad looking pour. It was a nice clean amber color with a wispy head. Not an overly hoppy smell, but a decent amount of hop aroma was present. It was well balanced, not just a blitzkrieg of hops with a smidge of malt. I liked this IPA even if it wasn't an all out hop assault (which is what I usually prefer). It went well with the thai wrap!
