Standard San Lucas is a wannabe Corona product, although this version, the "special" lager, comes in a painted green bottle.
Pale fizzy gold with a suspiciously-sticky layer of pure white foam.
Corn is apparent in the nose, although it mingles with some mild pilsner hop aromas.
Taste: more slightly over-sweet corn, although no really off flavors appear. Again, mild spicy hops are present but fairly thin. Not sure what this beer is trying to accomplish -- it wasn't quite right when sampled with a lime in the bottle either (if any limed beer can be considered right). My guess is a euro-style pilsner with too little hoppage and too much corn. It wasn't horrible for $5 a sixer but neither will it be a repeat purchase.

I bought this on a whim just to try it out.The taste was a little sweet. The color was a normal yellow if I remember nothing real outstanding or above average about this one just a regular beer to enjoy on a hot day. If you come across it try it out it isnt expensive.

Silk-screened label on a green glass bottle looks really easy to skunk.
Pours a clear full yellow colored brew with a good head and fairly good carbonation level.
Smell is sweet and herbal with a bit of spicy hop scent to it. Smells like San Miguel Lager. No skunking of this bottle.
Taste is sweet and with a good hop level to it. Mildly bitter and a bit spicy, taste is similar to an Asian style lager beer. Fair amount or grassy flavor to this.
Mouthfeel is good, carbonation level might be a little high, it stings the tongue a bit.
Surprisingly drinkable, I expected this to at best be as good as a BMC brew but it is better. I expected to hate this but I don't.

Another cheap beer night, got this on sale for $4.99 a sixer. That's very cheap by Baton Rouge standards. Special Lager is a pale golden color, not quite yellow, with a weak, dishwater head. Smell is of sweet malts with a touch of grassiness. Taste is sweet, a little bit fuller in flavor than a malt liquor, but similar. I didn't taste any strong hops presence. This is run-of-the-mill lawnmower beer, with nothing "special" about it.

Appearance: Crystal-clear pale golden color with a small snow-white head, which soon fades to a paper-thin layer. The carbonation is moderate with fair lacing.
Aroma: Light malt aroma, redolent with honeysuckle and faint citrus hops, not even a whisper of skunk, despite the green glass bottle.
Taste: Begins with a slightly sweet malt note, which soon turns tart, with mild citrus hops. The finish is crisp and dry, with a slight, lingering metallic bitterness.
Mouth feel: Possesses a rather light body, but still manages to be pleasant.
Drinkability/notes: The epitome of a summer beer, light, refreshing, and very easy to drink. The packaging is quite unusual, a green glass pop-top longneck with yellow, white, and blue enameling.
