330ml bottle - $1.79 at Total Wine & More in Alpharetta, Georgia.

Appearance: Decidedly clear body, faint pale golden hue with a decent-looking, airy, white head. Minute lacing on the way down.

Smell: A tad sweetish in the nose, some lackluster graininess, a mice-tear worth of uningratiating acetone, and a small serving of chilled creamed corn.

Taste: Mildly grainy with a sweet pop of light corn syrup. Ultra faint herbaceous hops, near nil bitterness, but, then, a trace of chemically astringency that holds firm until the sweetish, soft finish.

Mouthfeel: Thin-bodied. Medium carbonation.

Overall: Sometimes you luck out with a simple and innocuously inoffensive pale lager, but, sometimes it's kinda icky, as is the case with Suprema.

Pours into my pilsner glass glass a pale straw color with great clarity and big bubbles. A soapy white cap quickly falls to a broken film. Leaves a fair amount of lace.

There's not a lot going on here. Lightly cooked veggies and not much else. A fizzy super-light body isn't helping. The beer tastes like little more than water mixed with some rice and straw. Bitterness is very, very light and tasteless. Finishes with a metallic flavor and a bit of cooked cabbage.

It's light and flavorless and not much else. A couple of off flavors provided the only interest. This is not a beer worth revisiting.

Getting past one of the most horrendous odors I've come across in my travails through the pseudo-pilsners of the world, Suprema tastes and drinks very much like the lot of Latin American light lagers, settling on the lesser end of the spectrum.

The bottle gave a Dec 2010 bottling date, and I could imagine it perhaps being skunked with its green glass - I did, as usual, grab a single from the back of the row, out of direct light. Only, it wasn't quite all skunk that plagued its aroma and flavor. My best guess is that this is brewed with some funky hard water - heavy metals, cruddy lead pipes, and/or some low-quality or staling ingredients.

Basically, it pours with a beautiful, tight, white cottony head, leaving some pretty crystal lace, all atop a crystal clear, sickly yellow-gold hue - fairly standard. But as it's pouring out of the bottle you can smell the acrid stench of chemical/mineral/vegetable sizzling your nose hairs, eyes close to watering. Not as much carries over into the taste, which comes off like watered-down cream corn, lightly musty-funky, with a 1/4 tsp of malty sweetness on the end. I really can't tell if it's hops or ridiculous tannins or what - it feels fairly smooth but pretty fizzy-bitey, bitter, and dry, with a tiny residual film left on the tongue.

Could have been skunked, and I hate to leave it at that, considering its likely better fresh on-tap or mmm from a can. But such experiences like mine here hold weight as well.

330ml green bottle {"No Returnable"} served in pint glass.

A - Clear; pale gold color with a white head that rather quickly dissipates to a thin partial coat. Does leave lacing, however. Medium/light carbonation.

S - a bit fruity and wine-like

Tastes better than indicated by aroma. Still some white wine resemblance, but both hops and malt in the mix. Nice finish.

M - light, crisp and smooth, but unremarkable.

D - good, east to drink, thirst-quenching beverage.

I had this one at a Salvadorean restaurant. I picked it out because it was the drink of choice for the rowdy spanish-speaking table actross the room, figuring if they could take down 4 beers each, I'd at least like to try one.

It poured an extremely welcoming semi-clear golden barley color into the glass with a thick creamy head.

Nose was lemony hops with a beery undertone.

Taste was dry and balanced - a great use of the light-bodied hops. The yeast was still a mild (and positive) presense making me think they didn't microfilter it out. A friend of mine was trying to explain to me how that made most american-style lagers taste bad, and I didnt believe him, but now I might have some evidence to back him up.

Mouthfeel was outstandingly good for such a dry beer. Just all smooth and creamy.

Drinkability of this beer when you're having a plate of pupusas is really off the charts. I only gave it a 4.5 because I think it might be less charming away from food.

All in all, I may never try another Salvadorean beer, since this one is so good. (or to my palate - i think my review is going to come in over the mean)

A pale gold color with a small head that forms, the dissipates a little quicker than average.

Smell: very clean, fruity kinda like a dry white wine rather pleasing.

A stronger pilsner surprising from the look I almost expected water. Not a bad taste if you drink it normally but hold it on the tongue and it quickly becomes rougher. very grainy almost no spices.

Its drinkability is high due to the fact that not to much is going on with this beer.

A - A pale, anemic yellow. Standard straw color. Third-of-a-finger head that goes all Judge Crater on us the instant it sees air.

S - Like a dive bar bathroom that was just mopped with Natural Ice.

T - A bit of corn, cheap malt, and just a faint echo of hops. Like, imagine hops had shouted in an empty room just before you walked in. It's like that.

M - Gross. Prickly, bubbly, and fizzy. Very light. Imagine brushing your tongue and rinsing it off with seltzer water. No, wait, you brushed your cheeks, too. That would still feel better than this brew.

D - I could chug this as a session beer after I ran out of good stuff, but I'd burp like hell and probably be upset with myself. It's overpriced, both in terns of money and the energy I spent carrying the sixer to the car. I know this may sound harsh, but this was an immense disappointment. Avoid!

Sumprema pours a crystal clear pale yellow with a thin head. The aroma is sweet and grainy with a slight but not unpleasant bit of sulfur. The flavor is just a bit sweet with a crisp and clean after taste. There is just a bit of bitterness. There is nothing special about this beer, but as far as the style goes I'm not sure you could do it better.

Poured into a pint glass from a green 12 oz. bottle. Pours a medium straw in color and offers a thick soapy white head. Strong retention and lacing for a usually slick style.

Interesting blend on the nose. Grainy malts and some sweet light corn mix with notes of a Euro. Pils, and it's not such a bad combo. actually.

Flavor is smooth and moderate in body. Not too sweet, yet finishes with a clean lightly sweet lemongrass flavor. Richer and fuller in body in the first two thirds of the palate, in fact quite pilsner like up front. Moderate feel overall and good drinkability given that the beer offers enough texture to balance the adjunts.

Appearance: pours a crystal clear light yellow color with a one finger head that breaks apart immediately.

Smell: light malt, grass, and hint of bitterness is detectable.

Taste: slightly grainy malt presence with grass, hint of lemon zest, and a mild bitterness. Well balanced but mild in flavor.

Mouthfeel: light-medium in body. Crisp throughout. Clean aftertaste.

Drinkability: for the style this one is not half bad. Very easy to quaff and mildly refreshing. Worth a try.

Pours a light straw yellow with a 1 inch head of white foam. Surprisingly good head retention for the style.

Aroma is of light malt, faint earthy hops, and a bit of faint DMS, but not nearly as much as I was expecting.

Taste is surprisingly sweet, slightly like apple juice, but in a good way. This is surprisingly different from most adjunct lagers, and I like that about it.

Mouth feel is prickly from the carbonation. Very light-bodied and drinkable.

Overall, one of the best mass-produced adjunct lagers I've tasted.

This beer pours a pale straw yellow color, with a thin, but fluffy white head. The head fades slowly, leaving a surprisingly decent lace.

This beer smells mildly of grain. A very slight citrusy aroma is also present. That is about it for aroma.

The flavor is quite similar, with the addition of some grassy hop flavor. It is as mild as the other flavors. Not much to it, but not terrible either.

This beer is highly carbonated. It leaves a slight grainy aftertaste.

This beer would make a decent session beer. It is mild, and low in alcohol. I wouldnt want to drink it though since it is almost flavorless.

Overall: Decent beer for what it is. Not great, but not bad either.

A: A clear yellow-gold with some large carbonation bubbles. A fairly large, fluffy white head with nice retention and some solid lacing.

S: Light graininess. Some slight lemon/citric tang, along with a faint grassy hop aroma.

T: Again, some light grain malt. A nice lemony twang that provides a bit of character. Hops are grassy and herbal, providing light bitterness.

M: Lightish body, with subdued carbonation. I'd prefer it were a little more active in terms of carbonation, as it would give this beer a more refreshing nature.

D: This tastes pretty good, although it's a bit too flat and dull on the palate to be considered anything better than pretty good. More than I was expecting, to be sure.

Poured into a pint glass. A firm pour produces a light gold body with a dense froth atop. Retention and lacing are well above average for a cheap lager. Aroma is grainy with a touch of lemony tartness and the customary adjunct corn syrup note. Flavor is the same but it's actually worse to taste the lemon/corn syrup/grain profile than to smell it. Almost immediately becomes tiresome and is rather reminiscent of lemon lime soda. Body has a little more heft than the run of the mill adjunct lager. Clean aftertaste, nice level of carbonation.

Suprema pours a golden yellow with a white head from a green twelve ounce bottle. The aroma is grainy and mildly sweet. The flavor has some hops in it with a grain backing and on the sweet side. There really isn't any reason to recommend this beer. It's inoffensive in any case.

Pours a clear and very straw color with a bright white head that falls down and leaves a pretty thick lacing. The nose is very minor with an almost bitter tone to it. Minor roasted edge. Flavor is sweet. A little bit too much and a tad unbalanced it seems. There also seems to be a bit of an apple tone here as well. A bit thin overall. Feel is decent. Lower carbonation with an okay liquid body. This is drinkable, sure. Doesn't really carry enough punch to make it memorable enough to go back to. But still nice enough to try.

Poured a medium straw hue with a one and a half finger foamy white head. There was good retention and lacing,

The smell featured a light grainy malt with a touch of lemony hops.

The taste consisted of a sweet and musty grain with some flowery hop. A bit of green apple appeared toward the finish.

The mouthfeel was light and relatively clean.

Overall a decent Latin American beer. Certainly better than most.

This beer tends to impress me with a clean flavored, light bodied character. Opens up with a lemon-zest aroma, backed up with funky notes that hinge on skunkiness and earthiness. The flavors are less deterant, with a focus on fresh lemon grass and orange rinds, a mild malt / grain sweetness balances out the citrus. A mild grassy hop bitterness and flavor dominate late, and tend to cleans the palate. The feel is overcarbonated, which mutes the flavors considerably and lightens a lot into the finish. Certainly a refreshing south-of-the-boarder type brew, but hardly quality drinking.

I was told, when i was in El Salvador, that this is the best beer in the country.. . well that depends on who drinks it.
The color. .. is a YES and 3 tumbs up for color, appearance, head. . everything... but
tastes is just awkward, it tastes like white wine, looots of bubbles and when going down road it feels like Coke Soda... is not bad though, is just not that Suprema as the name says.
definetly i can easily drink couple of 24 packs.

This beer pours a fairly pleasing light golden color typical for the style with a surprising amount of carbonation. Not bad. The smell has a citric twang mixed with pale hop overtones. The taste follows suit with the smell. The hops show up well in the aftertaste, with the citric taste of lime present. Grains (rice and corn?) are present also. Mouthfeel is as expected and I could drink several of these on a warm summer night. Not bad overall, one of the better offerings for this style.

I was not expecting the massive carbonated head that laces incredibly thick all the way down. This is like a champagne ale without the fruitiness.

slightly toasted grain type taste and smell. hop presence is cheap and bitter. slight skunky afertast and "no" its not spoiled this is an adjunct type crooked taste.

I found this to be offensive to the palate but the appearance was awesome....combine the two and we have a ballgame. For now we have a mercy rule. Dogfood 10 Suprema 0.

Not as good as you may think, it is not as supreme as it says. Probably the taste is similar to Pilsener and they are probably the very same beer but with a fermentation period different. The hops taste a little old, do not know why. But the bottle shap is different that the rest or the most of them, and it gave m a little, just a little of problems to carry it all the way.

Probably the best thing about this beer was the head retention. It left a decent webbing of white lace around the glass as I drank it.

My sample poured a weak straw color that was transparent. The aroma was basically nonexistent; just a faint whisper of hops in the background.

The taste was pretty much the same. It was dry, bland, and boring. I can see this beer being refreshing if you were working all day long out in the fields, because it's basically carbonated water with some alcohol. It's drinkable, but most definitely lacking in flavor.
