Brown, 33 cl bottle brought over from Barcelona, by a friend. Pours a clear, dark ruby mahogany body with a small beige head that quickly disappears, leaving minimal lace on the glass. Good appearance score results from the attractive color of the body.
Aroma is subdued, with mild notes of chocolate malt and a hint of Euroskunk, sulphuric hop.
Mouthfeel is light bodied and well carbonated.
Taste is mostly dark roasted chocolate malt, with lively carbonation and an herbal/floral note of hops bitterness for balance. Finishes with a bitter burnt malt roastiness.
Not a bad Spanish beer, but there's not much to compare it to.

Looks like a Chimay Bleu.

Not a fan of the aroma, reminds me of Walkers ready salted...

Very choclatey and Guinnessey, pretty good in fact. Heavy and good for a cold winters evening in Madrid, or instead of a meal...

Appearance: Pours a dark brown with a touch of amber. Onr finger of dense tan head; hung around for a couple of minutes. Left small rings of lacing.

Smell: Roast malt and cooked cereal aromas.

Taste: Nice combination of sweetness and bitter, favoring the sweet side. Roast malt, some adjunct contributions.

Mouthfeel: Coats the mouth. Medium bodied. Plenty of carbonation. Dry, slightly bitter finish.

Overall: A nice beer. I would drink it again. The best Spanish beer I've had.

330ml bottle. Lager glass. Renjoyed on agt´11. Dark mahogany in color. Beige, small bubbled, close crown. Good retention & dense collars. Floral & toasted coffee aromas. Subtle toffee tasting while gentle bitterness is developed with moderate fruity flavor in the middle. Light body, medium carbonation.. Smooth finish, coffee notes. Well balanced & easy drinkable beer

Obtained in a supermarket in Fuengirola, Spain, this 33 cl green bottle comes with a black label and white print. Other than the name, the front label has nothing but "Cerveza Imperial" and "->1890<-" on it. There was no ingredient information. Best before 8/26/06, I tried it on 10/27/05 while still in Spain.

Pours a clear dark brown under a one finger short-lived thin-bodied off white head that generated exactly two spots of lace. The nose is full of malt - caramel, slightly roasted and very strong. The mouth is very prickly and somewhat sticky. There is lots and lots of malt here, heavily caramelized. The fruity sweet of plums and a bit of chocolate also emerge. Hops are here, too, providing a fairly substantial bitter finish. The aftertaste reminds of dark chocolate, both bitter and sweet. She ain't too pretty to look at, but this brew is definitely worth a chance.

Pours a mahogany color, brownish red, with a small light tan head that doesn't last. Aroma is light overall malt hints of licorice some grassy hops perhaps. Taste is lightly toasted malt some earthy flavors mix with liqorice and faint spicey hops. Mouthfeel is a light medium but right amount carbonation makes it feel nice. Drinkability is alright don't know whats available in Spain but this is sure better the any Bud product I have had lately. Thanks go to merlin48 for sharing this with me.

330 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. ABV is 5.5%. Beautiful chestnut to ruby colour, creamy and lasting tan head. Moderate but pleasant roasty aroma, notes of bakery, coffee and liquorice. The flavour is roasty with notes of burnt bread crust and burnt sugar. Coffee and tolerable hops in the aftertaste. Not too bad for a Spanish beer.

The brew is dark chestnut, almost brown, has a tan head that settles rather quickly but leaves good lacing. No curtains.

Much malt tones, a bit sweet dried dates, some bitter oranges.

Very sweet, caramelized sugar, sweet dried fruits, dates and figs, some orange peel finish.

Little carbonation, very small bubbles, oily, soft and sticky texture, a slightly dry finish.

I had for some reasons very low expectations on this beer, I was a bit off, it actually has some flavor and bitterness, but at the end it is too sweet for me.

This really stands out in a sea of sameness of Spanish beers. The roasted malts shine through in both the smell and taste. I recommend seeking this one out.

My father-in-law brought this back form a recent trip to spain. thanks Mike!

Pours crystal clear dark brown with a thin cap of very fine tan head. The head lasts a while and leaves a bunch of spotty lace as it falls.

Aroma is nice. Bit of DMS, but a fairly decent malt backbone. whole wheat bread. Bit of cracker. Caramel and a bit of buttery toffee. Hint of alcohol. Lightly herbal.

Taste is nice. Whole wheat bread. Bit of biscuit and cracker. Light chocolate. Caramel and buttery toffee. Bit of apple and DMS, but not quite to unpleasant levels. Light alcohol. Medium-low bitterness level. Lightly herbal.

Mouthfeel is nice. Medium-light body. Just over medium carbonation level.

Drinkability is pretty good. Nice balance. A little rough around the edges, but not a bad beer overall.
