Steel toe pours black, no head. Sweet lactose filled aroma. Taste is pretty sweet, lots of lactose, candy bar notes. Just a little watery. Overall good beer great flavors just a little watery.

Reviewed from notes. Poured from a 12 oz. can into an El Catador Barrel-Aged glass.

A: Very dark brown, opaque, and a low amount of visible carbonation. Forms a half-finger of tan head that fades quickly to a ring of foam.

S: Big roasted malts up front – dark chocolate, cacao, and tobacco. Nice lactose sweetness and vanilla. Mild char and burnt coffee. Almost an oaky dryness – you could convince me this was aged on oak staves (though I don’t think it was). Nice aroma, though it isn’t a smell-across-the-room thing.

T: Dark chocolate and baker’s chocolate and lactose up front. Vanilla and tobacco, with notes of caramel frappe coffee. No smoke, but deep dark roasted malts. Finishes bittersweet with cacao and vanilla, especially on the exhale – a good bit of bitterness from the roast really keeps it in balance.

M: Probably a medium body overall - maybe just a touch lighter than average, but it's hard not to expect something this dark color to be thicker than this is. Low carbonation sensation, but acceptable for style. Alcohol flavors stay pretty low.

O: I’m impressed. This isn't one of my favorite styles, and it's from a brewery that I’ve had a few unimpressive (though probably not bad) beers from. This would be a no-brainer to grab if it were more than limited-time distribution around here when a milk stout sounded good. I don’t know that it would be worth trading for, but you could do much worse finding somewhere on shelves in a 12 oz can. Scores given are to style; maybe would be a notch or two less for personal preference.

Poured from 12oz can into glass. Bottom of can is stamped 'BBD MAY 22 18'.
Black colored body with brown edges (shining light). Minimal head settles to island and thin ring. Just a few small spots of lacing.
Aroma of burnt roasted malts and some lactose.
Taste of burnt roasted malts, milk chocolate, and sweet lactose. No perceived bitterness.
Thin to medium mouth feel. A little creamy.
A good, average tasting milk stout.

This beeer pours a simple black with a large mocha head. The aroma features notes of brown suga, dark and milk chocolate, cocoa powder, hazelnuts, and a hint of cream. The flavor is very soft, with milk, milk chocolate, cocoa powder, dry roasted almonds, and marzipan. The mouthfeel is very light with frothy carbonation. Overall this is a really nice beer. It is not too heavy, has a pleasant dry countenance,

12oz can poured into a pint glass. This is a really smooth milk stout with a good amount of sweetness, chocolate and roasted malt character. Overall, solid beer.

Taste: semi sweet lactose, caramel malt, cocoa. Burnt milk nose. Black, opaque, with a smaller head of delicate lace. Medium body. I not sure how fresh this can was. May have try it on tap someday. 16 IBUs
