November 2018 is printed on the bottom of the can. Hopefully that's a canning date and not a best by. Either way, still an old can. Didn't catch that in the store. Oh well. Lets see what time did to this sucker.

Pours a hazy dark gold with a pretty creamy off-white head, which seems to be dying down fairly quickly.

Aroma is cotton candy, guava, mango, orange juice and pith. Those fruit aromas are very pleasant. Really makes me wonder what a fresh can smelled like.

Flavor is very fresh tropical fruit juice, then it goes to bitterness. Starts of pretty sweet, but the bitterness helps to wash that away. It's not complex, but it really isn't half bad. I've had much fresher DIPAs that were going for a similar thing that tasted less fresh than this can. Would love to have tried a fresh can.

Mouthfeel is getting towards heavy bodied, with a touch of stickiness. Carbonation is moderate. There is a burn in the backend, which reminds me of a hop burn, but I imagine is probably just alcohol burn. That's probably my biggest mark against this beer.

Overall, quite a surprise for such an old can. I disjointedness with the date on the can, but not what I ended up with in my glass. If you can get it discounted, pick up a can.

On-tap at Chapparal Safeway in Scottsdale AZ - The tap kicked just as it had reached the top of the snifter glass:

Pours golden with a creamy head and lacing.

The smell is of light citrus and pine with alcohol. Subtle, but pleasant.

The taste is of light citrus, some pine. The body is a bit thin for the style so the alcohol shows in a somewhat raw way.

Boozy, decent hop profile. Could use more heft. Decent enough, though. Nothing special. Wouldn't get again.

This is a straight forward double IPA. Nothing special here - aroma is malty and sweet. The color is light but the overall taste is malty. the hop bite is muted by the malts but it is noticable to some degree. The flavor is very midwest IPA which makes sense cuz this is a Colorado brewery. There is no alcohol heat but due to the maltiness it's not an easy drinking beer. So if you dig the malty, earthy, butterscott IPA's of middle America then this is your beer. If you like the West Coast style then you should possibly pass on this one. It all depends on what you seek out in a DIPA.

12oz can dated 4/7/18.

Pours gold with a chill haze and minimal head or retention. Malt with mild pine in the nose. Medium bodied with a tacky, syrupy mouthfeel. Sweet malt with a moderate bitterness and piney hops on the palate. Finishes malty with a lingering bitterness.

Tastes like a 90's west coast IPA.

Picked up a single from the Craft Beer Hop Stop 1-15-18 for $2.83. Best by 2-27-18 but stored in the beer fridge and Hop Stop's fridge the entire time.

Beer poured golden orange with a nice white head that left some lacing.

Nose is of floral hops with some hints of melon.

Taste is a biscuity malt base complemented by some melon and goose berry. Finish has a touch of rind.

Feel is medium bodied and pretty smooth.

Overall this is a serviceable beer but nothing special in a very competitive style.

LOOKS: A slightly hazy light amber with a finger of lasting white head. Fair amount of lacing.
AROMA: Very mild citrus and tropical fruit.
TASTE: Has a bit of an astringent bite. I can see why they say stone fruit on the website. It does have a peachy and apricot flavor, but, it is a bit harsh with that astringent quality. A little toasted grain as well.
FEEL: Medium-ish body, dry, and average carbonation.
OVERALL: Just need to get rid of the harsh quality and bring out the fruit.

ska doesnt get enough credit, i think they do cool beers, and have always made good hoppy stuff. this one is petty tasty too, bad hop contract its called, galaxy and el dorado i believe, and it tastes clean and bright and fresh to me, some melon and citrus in the el dorado which is really nice, and the beer drinks light for a double ipa, not a ton of body here and very little residual sweetness despite it having a decent malt backbone, and its really mild on the bitterness as the big one goes, so this goes down pretty quick for me. i like the fruitiness of the hops, kiwi and grapefruit and lime, zesty and new, almost alive. some light biscuit to the grain, a very mellow crystal profile, going away at the right time. perfect. i am surprised this isnt rated better, i know its more new school than modus, but this is fresh and dry hoppy and well made, i think its well better than its ratings. i havent had anything new from ska in a long time, so it was nice to get to drink this one. great hop profile.

L: Pours a slightly Hazy Brillant gold color with a small white head and some fingers of lacing.

S: Some toasted cracker malt mixed with ripe tropical fruit. Quite malty for a DIPA and the nose isn't overly strong.

T: Sweet malt and tropical fruit, a slight medium bitterness. Quite sweet for a DIPA.

F: Full body with creamy carbonation.

O: There are much better and more flavorful DIPA out there.

I expected more from this beer, has a lot of malt sweetness, body and bitterness, not near enough hop taste or smell.

12 oz can, best by 2/22/18. Pours clear gold with a medium rocky white head that retains fairly well and laces the glass.

The aroma is subdued - bready malts with some sweet fruit and piney hops.

The flavor is sweet cracker malts and a little fruit with sharp almost metallic hops with a lot of bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, OK DIPA. I wasn't a big fan of the hop flavors.
