Poured from 12oz. can into a New Belgium globe glass. Beer was a dark orange color, with a thick, one-finger head. Heavy carbonation and thick lacing.

Aroma was hops, malt, caramel and fresh bread.

Taste was sweet malt up front, followed by a long, hoppy bitter finish.

Quite good and easy drinking. Well balanced. Would buy this one again.

12 oz can dated March 25, 2014.

A: Clear, amber body. Decent amount of bubbly head with good retention.

S: Mostly caramel malt. Little bit of citrus from the hops.

T: Nicely balanced pale ale. Reminds me of a less hoppy Modus.

M: A little thin. Decent carbonation.

O: If I'm going to buy Ska, I'll pick up Modus instead.

Acquired from kiltdtxn, courtesy of the Nice Cans BIF so a big "Thank You" goes out to him. Poured from a 12oz bottle into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a deep golden brown color, with a short off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is of floral hops, caramelized malts and fruity citrus.

T: The taste is very well-balanced and starts with a hearty malt character followed by sweet flavors of caramel and citrus. Then a strong but not over-powering hops presence comes in. The after-taste is slightly hoppy and slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

D: Very tasty, goes down quite easily, not too filling, decent kick, very good representation of style, this is an excellent sessionable beer with a lot of flavor and substance that make it worth drinking for a whole evening.

Was pretty sweet tasting. The malts really come through on this and leave hops in the dust. I liked the red color and poured a nice head. The taste was a little more watery from what I expect from Ska Brewing.

12 oz can with a best by 03/18/11 stamp on the bottom rim of the can. I am excited about Ska putting best by dates on their products! Pours a very clear copper color with a frothy cap of off-white foam. Retention is ok, but lacing is awesome.

Nose is easily identifiable citric hops and caramel malt. Clean, basic but nice and fresh. Maybe some pine resin comes in to give it a bit of a winter release feel.

Taste is piney, citric and toffee-biscuit malty. Little bit of cola and nutmeg spice notes as it warms. Strikes a nice balance between hops and malt, but falls firmly in the bitter camp. Very clean, almost refreshing. Nice mouthfeel and well carbonated. This is tasty brew, but does not make me think winter release necessarily.

A - Poured out a clear, copper color with a two-finger, khaki-colored head of bubbly foam. It had some nice retention and left some soapy lace.

S - It smelled very floral and piney. Some nice caramel notes, too.

T - Good piney hop bite brings some bitterness. Good sweet caramel flavor with a touch of biscuity malt.

M - It was crisp, sharp and smooth. A light to medium bodied ale with a dry finish.

D - This is a really nice APA. I like the idea of an APA as a winter seasonal.

A: Nice almost copper tint of orange. Head poured pretty thick at first, then faded into a nice thin, slightly orange froth. Laced the glass like crazy as I drank.

S: Citrus and pine in the hops, caramel from the malts.

T: Hops dominate beginning and middle, then fades into a sweet caramel flavor. This is seriously delicious.

M: Medium, slight creaminess, especially as it warms up a bit.

D: Very, very drinkable. Unlike most of the other winter ales in which I dabble in on a regular basis, this has a lower alc content, however there is not a lack of flavor in any way.

Notes: This is one of the best American Pale Ales I have ever had! I will look forward to this release every year. For those who are against cans, if you see this 6er, bite the bullet and get it.

Ska is impressing me more and more with each brew I sample.

Clear, amber brew. Head is nice-looking: tall, sticky, off white color. Leaves a filmy trace down the glass.
Nose is malty, with some caramel and toffee. Notes of citrus juice jump in to tag along. Flavor notes are floral and citric, with grapefruit pith leading the way. Malts come in sticky and caramel-like. A little bready, but not quite thick enough. Medium to full mouthfeel - syrupy hopping. Carbonation is about right.
Not bad, but doesn't stand out much from the crowd. Slightly chemical note from the can doesn't make a great impression.

22oz bottle $5 from Total Beverage. Nice heavy orange color, transparent, bubbly, and has a foamy head. It has a nice hoppy smell, floral, pine, good. The flavor is a seriously hoppy pale ale. the smell made me think it might taste like an IPA but it is more like a hoppy pale ale. This was a good beer.

A: Pours a nice deep rich golden amber hue with an above average off white head. No lace.

S: Lots of grainy malts with hints of caramel. Hints of fresh citrus as well.

T: Rich sweet caramel malt supported by equal amounts of grapefruit citric hops. The finish is a bit bitter and floral.

M: Medium to lighter in body with nice carbonation.

D: By far the best SKA brew I have ever tasted.
