I went on a Friday evening when the place wasn't half full, with five friends of mine. We ordered beers, water, food and salads. The beers showed up first I.P.A., wheat and porter were decent, but the bad ass ale was a joke. I brew better homebrew than this! Then the salads arrived two of them were unedible(the lettuce was brown and moldy) Half of the group didn't enjoy their food. The water never showed up, but we only asked twice for it. The waitress acted as if we didn't exist most of the time. I read the other reviews that were posted prior to visiting this establishment but I went anyway. I made a mistake.

Vibe: The place had a combination of indoor and outdoor seating. It seemed like two houses were put together with one being the bar and the living room being the dining room for the restaurant.

Quality: Beers were served in pint glasses at the proper temperature.

Service: The place wasn't that crowded when we came (around 5 pm on a Monday night) but sometimes it took awhile for beers to be served after ordering them from the waitress.

Selection: The place had seven of the brewery's beers on-tap. Beers were available in three sizes: pints, half-pints, and pitchers.

Food: I had their Keep Tahoe Bleu burger, which came with bacon and blue cheese. It was OK, but nothing compared to the other burgers that I have recently had in the area.

I stopped in for a couple pints since our place for the vacation we were on was only about 2/10's of a mile away. The place is not huge but I found two entrances and took the one leading to the bar area. There is brewing and fermentation equipment behind the bar to give you an idea of the size -there was an area for lagering with fermenters at the end. You get the impression the place has been there for a while based on the décor and the beers I tried were good or very good. The service was friendly and attentive and I would have been back except it was my first trip to Tahoe and had lots of places to check out, I did not try the food but the pizza looked tasty.

I am not a fan, actually really disappointed. The beer was sub par, especially for northern California standards and the food was poor, if I wanted a Toni's microwavable pizza I would have brought one with me. Nice location and friendly staff, the beer and food need some work however.

The place looks like my grandmothers house, and elevator music playing for atmosphere. Who would have thought it was a brewery? The funny thing is - the beer is fantastic!! The service was great, the price was very inexpensive, the food is better than average. This place is not in the tourist area and does have a small outside seating area, parking is good in back. My favorite place to go in South Lake Tahoe. Don't let the décor or the music selection scare you - the place is a winner - make it a destination spot.

Yesterday I went here for lunch with my family. The host was very rude to my wife implying that she couldn't count to 8 when he pointed at the large table to seat us. We got seated at the 4 person table that was next to the 8 person table. Our waiter came by and my mom asked if we could have a bigger table and he immediately gave us a six person table. There were 4 of us by the way. Our waiter was great. His name was Chris in case you go there. You want him as your waiter. The ultimate nachos were 17 dollars but they were very good. We also had the spicy ranchero pizza chips which was also very good. I chowed down on the pizza chips and my Indian Pale Ale while they chowed down on the nachos. My dad had the Washoe Wheat which is the summer seasonal. He really enjoyed the Washoe Wheat. It was a great experience. The only problem was the host who I didn't like and neither did my wife.

Visited for dinner and beers since it was within walking distance of our hotel, the Days Inn.

Basically it's a generic casual dining / sports bar that brews some of their own beers. Which is cool, but don't expect anything earth shattering. They have about 6 or 7 beers, fairly standard styles. I had pints of their flagship beer, the Bad Ass Ale, and also the porter. The Bad Ass was decent, nothing extreme like the name implies. I'd describe it as a hoppy red ale.

Our waitress was friendly and service was fine. The waitress didn't even care when the table of 10 guys next to us asked her to split the bill across 10 credit cards.

Food was a wide mix of American casual dining, with some specialty pizzas also. It was okay.

I'm only giving this place a 3/5 for atmosphere because of the beautiful scenery around Lake Tahoe. Of course, South Lake Tahoe is the worst part of the lake, because thats where all the people tend to flock to. But nonetheless, I'm feeling generous. Its easy to find, as its on the highway, and it often has bad traffic, so you can be creeping by at 4mph sometimes.

Quality is poor. This is beer made for tourists who don't like beer. This is not a beer destination. Ingredients are lacking. I have no idea where they actually make the beer, it does not appear to be at this location. Every beer style is average or below average. Probably the same yeast in every ale style.

Service is slow at times when its busy. Uninformed about beer is the norm.

The most interesting thing about this place is smelling the different kinds of weed people have on them, because many reek of Otto's jacket while you're there.

The place was a nice stop after a day on the mountain hiking. Well ok.. a few hours.. still the beer was nice and cold. We had a sampler to make sure we tasted everything on tap.. I'm not big on over hoppy bears as much as my bf, but i have to say it did taste great, i believe it was the Bad Ass that i enjoyed most, besides their Pilsner. It was earlier on a Friday afternoon, so we were surrounded by a few locals, had the hot wings and they were very tasty! The two darkest beers did not do much for me, however they both had a great aroma and color. They have a logo sticker that is super awesome.. "Drink Tahoe Brew" just like the "keep Tahoe Blue" pretty cool. All in all it was a great selection. I'd recommend going if you on the hill.

A nice place to grab a sampler. Seven beers were on tap when I was there. Unfortunately, they were out of the stout. All were good to very good, except one which was only fair. All were true to their style. Service was a bit slow and a couple did walk out after not being served fast enough. The food was good and the prices were reasonable. I did get the impression that they cared about the quality of the beer. I was very happy with the overall result and would definitely stop back in next time I am in the neighborhood.

Located right on the main drag, it's easy to find. It's a small establishment, co-located with a pizza restaurant. There are about 8 stools at the bar plus 5 at a narrow side bar. Outside seating is pleasant under the tall pines, with picnic or small metal tables, but there the whooshy din of traffic on Tahoe Blvd. Still, it's a nice option.

Inside, the bar has a copper surface, and brewing vats occupy much of the behind-the-bar real estate. During my visit, the brewer was busily filling one tank with water and readying his hoses for some transfer of fluids. It's utilitarian concrete floor behind the bar and pine wood planks in the general area. High ceilings and clearstory windows make a pleasant ambiance. Two TV screens and a killer sound system to keep people happy. Decoration is minimal, consisting of kegs, growlers, and bags o' malt sitting on the high rafters and shelves.

The brewer told me the place was established in the early 1990s but has changed a great deal, moving from having guest taps to selling only self-brewed beer. The building owner converted the adjacent space into restaurant space. I got the happy-hour veggie quesadillla, which was hearty, fresh, ample, and good. The food menu had lots of offerings, and I imagine those customers expecting pizza and sandwiches will find something to their liking.

As to the beer, the list of offerings was almost complete with an IPA, amber, pilsner (unavailable for my visit), a Belgian Wit, a wheat beer, a blonde ale, a porter, and a dark brown ale. My pint of the IPA was nicely hoppy & fairly good, perhaps not outstanding, but authentic and fresh. I sampled 4 ozs of the Belgian Wit (a terrific banana nose to this), the Avalanche PA (seemed mostly like a lighter version of the IPA) and the Washoe Wheat beer (a "Wash-Out", totally ordinary and uninspired brew). For a small place, this brewery does quite well, has a reasonable selection and OK food. I would stop in again if passing through.

Not a bad place for the Tahoe area, which is mostly devoid of good beer besides FiftyFifty in Truckee. They had about 8 beers on tap, which was pretty solid for a place like this. All were their own brews - no guest taps. The quality of beer was pretty average, though easily better than neighboring Stateline. The porter was my favorite, and nothing was super-crappy. Food was solid but nothing special. The crowd is decent, although there was a substantial stoner/hippie contingent when I was there. Prices were about what I'd expect them to be. Next time I'm in the area, I'll probably stop by again, if only for lack of better options.

The Brewery at Lake Tahoe was good not great--three beers were not available including their Star Lake Stout. The beers we tried (Needle Peak Ale, Paramount Porter, and Bad Ass Ale were all good--a thumbs up to the brewer there. The Happy hour prices are only available in the very small bar area--if you go during the Happy Hour prepare to get chummy with everyone. The food was good also the wings are hot and you can get them hotter if you like--the chef likes a challenge in this category. Overall, this place is definitely worth a stop--just wish they had all their offerings available on tap.

Umm..., not impressed. That sums it up for me! We had intentions of going there for a late lunch, but after we ordered our sampler we decided just to drink them and leave. The food menu looked average, nothing spectacular. They only had a handful of beers and not one of them was pleasing to my palate. The bartender/waitress was doing the best she could with what she had, but she didn't blow our minds. So, if you are in the Truckee/Reno/Tahoe area, I suggest spending your time exploring other brewpubs.

We stopped in here with high hopes and left a bit disappointed. Of the five brewpubs we visited this week, this one was the most mediocre. We were there for lunch and they had just one server/bartender so it was slow, but I work tending bar like that sometimes so no fault there. The beer was on the low side of mediocre. They were out of their porter and had no seasonals available. Of the six beers we tried the best was the Bad Ass Ale and I gave it a 3 out of 5. The Washoe Wheat was...well, it was bad.

Beautiful setting near Lake Tahoe, but you can't see the lake from the inside. Not really worth the stop.

This is one of the worst brewpubs I've ever visited in my entire life. Location, location, location - this is the only reason this place stays in business, and perhaps the absence of any real competition in the area.

Beers - I ordered the sampler and all beers were notably below average. Look at the BA reviews for beers to confirm what I'm saying. Their porter was nothing like a porter. A couple beers have an off-soapy taste, and there's little difference between their pale and amber ales.

Atmosphere - overcrowded, small, and within feet from the busiest road in town. Either you're hearing nothing but road noise, or you're hearing the loud kitchen people, or your chair back is practically touching the the person behind you in the cramped seating area. Although the location is visible from the road and easy to find, you won't want to stay once you arrive.

Food - only redeeming feature of this place, and rather limited choices.. basically an assortment of fried apps, pizza apps, and regular pizzas for the main course.

Value - you're paying the resort town premium for mediocre food, and horrible beer.

Don't waste your time here. The best tap selection in town is at The Cantina (16 taps, 14 are quality) and the food is much better as well.
