O'Hara's Food & Spirits

A decent enough place. This is an Irish pub, or at least, all the help I spoke too had an Irish accent, so I suppose that counts for something. A small to medium sized pub, with half of the floor devoted to the bar and the other half devoted to tables. Has lots of Irish paraphernalia on the walls. The crowd here is mixed, some older people, some families, some younger people.

They serve about 15-20 beers on tap. No beers here are out of the world amazing, but most of the beers aren’t crap either. Some examples included Sam Adams Summer Ale, Newcastle Brown Ale, Murphy’s Irish Stout. Prices are reasonable, you would probably spend around $10-$15, maybe a little more or less, on a meal plus a drink here. Food is above average, tasty and a good selection of specials. I enjoyed a calzone, but they have many seafood dishes, as well as many standards. Perhaps a good restaurant to bring a macro drinker to?

 

 

 

 

 

This place is a real hidden jewel in Newton. Tucked away on a side street, you'd almost miss it if you were going by too fast. However, everyone in town must know about this place because no matter what time of day-or day of the week-you go there, it's packed. It's also a very diverse crowd: local workers breaking for lunch, men in suits having lunch-meetings, families getting together for dinner-you name it. The food here is really good. Fish dishes are a specialty, although I usually get a chicken sandwich, and the french fries are crisp without being too heavy or oily. They also make pizza and calzones here, which is something you might not expect at a place called O'Hara's. Classic Irish-Italian-American fare, but made very well using great ingredients.

They have a good selection of beers on tap, it's not a mecca of brews, but the representation gets the job done. Sam's, Murphy's, etc. All the big guys without getting too commercial or standard. An excellent place to have a few pints with friends.
