Stop number 203 on my quest to visit as many quality breweries/brewpubs as possible.

From a beer standpoint, this one may have been the worst.

They had a golden, hefe, and Octoberfest.

I began with a half liter of the hefe. At first, I thought she poured me the wrong beer. She told me it was her favorite so I assumed she knew what she was doing as she was the one who poured it. Flavor was buttery corn with smooth, non descript flavor. No banana or clove. I only drank half and came up with a story that I didn't like to drink and drive and just wanted to get a sample of their beers. Half liter was the smallest size other than the 75 cent shot glass samples.

Next was the Octoberfest. At first it had a noticeable spicy finish. After a while it turned into a flavor of old hay and creamed corn aroma. Worked hard to get half of the half liter down.

The wonderful server gave me a "free" sample of the golden which tasted just like the hefe.

The half liters were $5 each. They were brewing a Marzen.

I had the sausage sampler appetizer as some food. They told me the sausages came from Germany and I found them to be pretty good although a bit pricey. My bill for two beers and the food was $25 plus tip.

The upside to this place is the manufactured German atmosphere. Sort of like the US Hofbrau chain. They also have an outside beer garden and I imagine the summers get pretty crowded. Unless you're a freak like me who has to visit every place that brews beer or you love German food and could enjoy it with a Reisling, I would steer clear.

I have been to this place twice now and I'm not really sure why I went back the second time... perhaps I forgot how mediocre it was. The atmosphere is pretty cool... kind of out in the middle of no where with a traditional old Bavaria feel. The food is ok... I have had better German food for sure... For the price, I wouldn't say it is worth it though. The service is good, I have never had a problem other than they are generally not as familiar with German food/beer as they should be to work there.

The beer selection is limited to 3 rotating brews that are all brewed in house... which means that they are all 3.2% ABV BY LAW... don't let anyone tell you otherwise. The hefeweizen and golden taste pretty much exact the same with a TON of buttery flavor... meaning the beer has not aged much at all. It is way too overwhelming and not enjoyable at all. Their other darker beers (like the oktoberfest) have the same problem, but with a little more beer flavor... still not very good though.

Overall I was very disappointed with all the hype and atmosphere surrounding this place... it has so much potential I think the Okies don't know any better so it gets away with it.
