One of the few good pubs to go to in ManchVegas. Located around the corner from the Red Arrow, the Wild Rover is def. a good place to meet people for drinks and food. The atmosphere is a "Cheers" type of feel. You enter through the front door and you see a jukebox on your right and the bar on your left. The pub is U-shaped. The other side is the resto area. The bartenders know their stuff. They know how to pour a good pint o' Guinness, but they can also recommend you a good Belgian. If you are getting food, the waitresses are extremely pleasant. On Thursday night, you'll hear the lively sounds of Marty Quirk. The selection of beers are standard fare for a pub: two Guinness taps, Bass, Harp, Boddington's, etc. with a typical selection for bottles (Miller Lite, Bud, Coors Light, etc). The pub also has a separate set of taps for Belgians (Hoegaarden, Laffe, etc). As for the food, I can not complain. The bison burger is my choice of grub. Best time to check out this place is on a thursday, especially the after 5pm. crowd. Just make sure you park your vehicle after 6pm across the street in the lot, or else the meter wenches will get you!

Fairly fun place that gets very busy. Pretty much run-of-the-mill tap selection, but it's okay. The food is good, though I typically land on Bangers & Mashed nearly every visit, so haven't sampled many other dishes.

I was here in the middle of the week so the place wasn't so busy, which is something I really like. When I got there around 6 PM, it wasn't so busy, but as time progressed, that did change. I can see this place rocking on the weekends, which I'm sure it does.

As far as the beer goes, the taps were a little more than the average Irish Pub, with most of them being craft brew. My palette has been pretty wrecked over the years and the most appealing beer that I could find was the DFH 60, not so exciting since I come from DFH country and it's available all over the place. The tap selections were very "run of the mill" and wasn't very exciting, then again, I really enjoy eclectic and big beers.

The food was really good, 'had the beef tips over rice and it was very good. Nothing really appealed to me on the menu so the beef tips was an after thought, and a very worthwhile one at that.

I ended up having one beer and went back to my hotel room where I had better stuff to enjoy while doing work for the following day.

The Wild Rover is definitely worth checking out, but not sure if I'd go back next time I'm in town.

This bar is a lot of fun. They sell more Guiness than anyone else in the state of New Hampshire. The bartenders give the place a lot of personality and the crowd is lively, especially during summer nights when the Red Sox are on. There is a picture of Osama bin Laden wearing a Yankees cap behind the bar. There selection isn't what you'd call over the top premium but they do get some good beers. One other thing, this bar sees more than its share of comely lasses. I don't know why, usually the good looing ladies prefer dance type places but this place draws them in.

Menu lists above average pub food. Do NOT order the mussels or be prepared to send them back. Mine arrived with the shell sealed shut. This means means they were not at all fresh. The waitress did not understand the significance of this fact: "Sometimes they do that". "Yes, when they're stored dead". A major disappointment. I'll eat dinner elsewhere before my next visit, or I'll just resign myself to something heavier.

Our waitress was personable, but had to run back and "check" when she ended the selection list with "and one other beer that I forget". I recall having a Guinness, and that usually reminds me a place had a limited selection.

The atmosphere's nice - cozy in fact. The rooms are smaller and tables closer together. In a way that's not true of Strange Brew or Milly's, you can imagine the place both becomes packed with mostly locals, yet not so noisy that you can't hear yourself think.

Headed out to the Wild Rover after a minor league baseball game. Wasn't expecting much because most Irish bars I went to when I lived in New Hampshire a few years ago weren't the best, but figured, what the heck.

I really liked this place. Some of the nicest servers I've had at a restaurant. They were very polite, and since it was relatively slow, our main waitress and others would just stop by and talk to us for awhile.

As for the beer, they had a couple of Shipyards on tap, as well as Red Hook, a Smuttynose, Smithwicks, Guinness and Old Speckled Hen.

I never even asked about the bottles. I didn't have any food, but the menu looked decent.

I'd go back again if I'm back in Manchester, because, well, it's Manchester and there's not a lot offered

This is a very nice little bar, especially for Manchester, which lacks many worthwhile places to get a good beer, unless you're looking for a wannabe frat basement and consider Coors Lite quality. It's good to know that for at least the past year (give or take), the Wild Rover has been smoke-free, which will mean less once NH passes a public smoking ban this year. The place is pretty cozy inside, with a long bar area on the right side when you enter (complete with a barrel full of unopened peanuts) and a quieter area with tables mostly separated on the left side of the building. The beer selection is decent in general, but nearly superb for Manchester, and the bartenders are friendly and know what they're talking about, though I really wish they'd ditch the lackluster Shipyard taps for something considerably better. The food is also superb with two-for-the-price-of-one dinners on Tuesdays. All in all, this is one of the few nice, (sometimes) quiet(er) bars that makes for a welcome break from the noisier, smokier beer bars and crappy fraternity-basement-esque dumps elsewhere in Manchester.

Tucked away a block behind Elm street and worth the search, especially after a thirsty day of walking the streets and knocking on doors. It's a small pub split between bar and restaurant, though slightly smoky throughout. (We Mass weenies are spoiled by smokefree laws). Beautiful Irish tapestries with the design truly woven in hang over exposed brick walls.

The beerlist has about a dozen of the usual suspects for a pub-type restaurant, supposedly including cask--but not for me! On my two visits, they listed the same beer as being on cask twice and both times I was told it was off. They do pour a nice Guinness, with creamy head and just not-icy enough to really taste the maltiness.

The food is very good. The fish and chips are a standout, with light, crispy batter on moist fish. I prefer the onion rings to the chips, which are more like steak fries. My husband, on the other hand, thinks the chips are just right. Your pick. The burgers are good, both the bison and the beef. Service is friendly and at the right pitch of attention.
