Found this on the discount rack for $5 a 750ml.

Pours a spritzy white head that leaves it silky and full. Yellow body with a brown tinge with some haze. A nice looking beer in a large tulip glass.

Aroma isn't strong, but it is pleasant with light earthy notes and fairly clean.

Flavor has a very subtle earthiness to it. Full tasting without being sweet. Very well balanced with the hops.

Full smooth soft mouth feel.

This beer is very drinkable and delicious. I will be making a trip back to the store to buy a few more to sock away. This is a solid beer de garde.

IMHO... this is the style of biere de guarde native to this part of the world. it even says it right on the bottle. amazing. authentic. true.

hazy golden in color with a white head that holds well and leaves very nice lace.

wet rock minerality hits my nose first, followed by tart green apple, orange blossom, chamomile flowers, lemon and a touch of cereal or grain or fresh bread or something. there's also some barnyard, but very faint. the local yeast that has found its way in to this beer really gives it character, and the funk is outweighed by the vibe of wet, mossy rock and local flora and fauna.

all of the above ring out in a very elegant, balanced harmony, driven by a nice acidity that highlights the citrus and helps the fruit, flower and funk linger on the palate to create a long, flavorful, a little tart/sour, and dry (but not extremely so, and not hot) finish. medium body. soft. silky. fairly low carbonation. no prickliness. it's all about the acid here.

almost too drinkable for me. super food friendly. i love to have this beer with spiced pork and potatoes, but also find it to be mind-blowingly good with the cheeses from the area like camembert and st. andre. i could drink this beer every day. a MUST for lovers of old-world style beers like gueze and saison. the "d'orge" and "blonde" from bouffay are up there with fantome's beers if you ask me.

highly recommended.

Slightly hazy, pale yellow color. Huge, fluffy white head. Recedes slowly leaving ample lace on the glass.

Earthy aroma of barns and fresh mowed grass. There's a beef stew element to the smell. Slight hop in background.

Grainy and grassy flavor up front. Similar to a lawn-mower version of a Belgian. Thin bodied with generous carbonation. Low level of sourness in the background. Nice hop presence in the swallow. The aftertaste is light hop and citrus.

This is closer (IMHO) to a farm ale or saison than a Belgian. It's easy to drink, soft and light.

Beer bottle (75cl.), tasted in 2007.

Appearance : slightly veiled, with white foam head (not persistent), low effervescence.
Smell : yeast aroma
Taste and mouthfeel : fruity taste, a slight mouth, well-balanced bitterness.
Drinkability: This beer is the result of a great adventure: the association of Brittany organic farmers and regional brewers. this association will guarantee the origin and quality of malt.
