If a tall pine falls in the Palouse and no one is there to hear it… Quietly brewed since 1993 and renamed in 2012 after another brewery gave us the silent treatment over a trademark issue with “Northern Lights,” this Spokane-style Pale lets its generous malt base and imposing use of Cluster and Cascade hops do the talking… No-Lie.

The appearance had a hazy golden copper colored body with a one and a half finger white foamy and bubbly head that quickly dies within less than a half a minute, lacing is clingy somewhat thick and all over the place. The smell had a deep citrusy pine hops, and an adequate amount of caramel maltiness to back it up. The taste had a bittersweetness combined together very well, slight citrus aftertaste and sticky dry finish. On the palate, it sat at/about a light to borderline medium, sessionable and very worthy of having with food. The carbonation is good for the style and for me as there’s a slight harshness for an APA, but still not overly done. Overall, this was a very well done APA that I would have again.

Fast becoming my favorite Washington brewery. Another outstanding addition to their lineup, hits all the right notes or an APA, remaining smooth and highly drinkable. A perfect accompaniment to almost any kind of food.

Pours a murky honey orange with a foamy khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Foamy swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Tiny dots of sediment are seen suspended in the beer after the pour. Smell is of citrus fruit, citrus zest, earth, and tea aromas. Taste is much the same with tea, earth, and citrus zest flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with interesting tea aromas and flavors that work well with the citrus forward hops.
