Picked up this beer recently at the Total Wine in West Orange. Never had this before and never had anything from No-Li as well, as this was the first place where I saw anything from these guys. The bottle design was nice and the beer inside was up to par as well, with lots going on for something as strong as this!

The pour was dark as was to be expected with a nice, tan head that left behind great rings of lacing as I worked my way through this. Lots of bitter chocolate in the nose with even more in the taste, with a good amount of roasted barley malt to give this body. Currant and plum were underneath that but thankfully, the alcohol was recessed and didn't overpower the fruit flavors. Bitter aftertaste that reminded me of chili powder that left some heat behind once the sips were over.

Had this been stronger, it would have been a lot to take in but everything was balanced nicely here, which doesn't always happen for a Double/Imperial Stout. This wasn't like any other Stout that I had and during the colder months, this would be one that I'd reach for to heat up. Fun stuff that deserves more reviews on here!

Pours black, (SRM-36) with a ¼” creamy chestnut head that turns rocky rather quickly. Tinny bubbles of carbonation form columns within the Offero Glass, while rings of lace frost the walls, and a light viscus film builds.

The aroma is filled with chocolate syrup, while deep roasted malt plays off molasses. Rum infused chocolate and light peat become apparent as this one warms.

Roasted malt is a major theme, with sweetness and moderate roasted bitterness in the background. Baker’s chocolate with lactose and vanilla hold the middle ground, giving way to a long modest building finish. Warmth releases a fair amount of sweetness.

Warming alcohol is punctuated by soft carbonation, while the full, almost dense chewy body coats the palate with syrupy sweetness.

This bottle was aged about six to nine months, and proved an excellent accompaniment while reading on a rare, sunny Spring afternoon.

9.5% ABV, 100 ibu, 650ml bottle.
A - jet black brown with finger not too brown head.
S - mint, brown sugar, coffee, bit of cocoa, roast malt. date, caramel & vanilla as it gets warmer.
T - welly carbonation on palate, hoppy came first, big sticky smooth mouthful. liquorice, malty ness is not as big as I expected, according to their statement said, 5 types of roasted malted are added. it fade away quick tho. bitterness lingering at the back.
O - I somehow like it, especially on a summer day, when most breweries don't do stout. and it's hoppy (well done Columbus hops!) with high ABV, sweetness and bitterness r the main theme of it. will get it when there's not many imperial stout around. recommend to cellar for at least 6 months, that the bitterness will be rounder, and other flavors could come out easily, which u will find its a pretty complex beer.

Great imperial stout that hits home hard with strong, malty tastes, but lets more fruity flavors linger as the beer continues to age.

Surprisingly sweet for 100 IBU rating. Totally in-offensive.
