Kunstmann Torobayo Pale Ale pours a light amber color into my pint glass. Atop the clear liquid rests a 1/4", white head, which quickly dissipates. Moderate carbonation, minimal lacing. The smell of this beer is very typical for an English pale ale; a mixture of caramel, sweet malt, butter, and herbs greets the nose.

The taste of this beer is in line with what the aroma promises. The initial taste is of a caramel-enriched malty sweetness; bread and butter notes are evident as well; all flavors balance each other very well. The bitterness of this beer is slight and is limited to a mild herbal flavor. The mouthfeel is very wet and sweet, and a touch on the light side. Finishes with a mild mineral and slightly bitter aftertaste.

Overall, this is a faithful Chilean recreation of a traditional English pale ale. If you ever happen to be in Chile, Kuntsmann Torobayo Pale Ale would make a decent session beer.

I tried this beer at the Platinum Club in Santiago. It poured a clear copper with white head that left some lace. The scent had faint malt. The taste was nicely balanced and ok to drink. The Mouthfeel was medium in body with good carbonation. Overall it's ok.

Appearance: Pours a clear amber color verging on copper; a modest head caps the liquid and a few dots and dashes remain

Smell: Toasted grain, toffee and earthy hops

Taste: Toasted grain and toffee, up front, with an earthy hop character developing in the middle; increasingly grainy in the back end, although the toffee malts dominate the finish; some diacetyl seems apparent

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation; a bit slick

Overall: An OK beverage that has more flavor than many of the other beers in Chile but it is not up to the standards being set in other countries for an English Pale Ale

355ml bottle poured into airport plastic cup 18/8/11

A dark amber with a long lasting cream colored head that leaves plenty of lace

S some toffee with a little herbal hops, simple but decent

T very faint coco with some earthy hops and caramel, perhaps a little tea bag

M thick enough to please and creamy from the carbonation

O finally some hop character in a beer from South America

not great but decent, at least theres some positive flavor opposed too most of the brews I've had in South America

I think the biggest problem with this beer is that they label it as a pale ale on here. This beer is much more of an amber lager. The most wonderful thing about this beer is that it has a great flavor with an even more splendid mouthfeel.

Normally the appearance is better, but for whatever reason today, the foam has scaled back to almost nothing rather quickly, although it is leaving a nice lacing around the glass.

Torobayo is a little light in the flavor department. It's a good malty flavor, just not particularly bold. With a large selection of English pale ales to choose from, it probably would not be my first pick, but when you are in you're in Chilean Patagonia it hits the spot. Good thing too because it's about the only quality game in town.

Copper color with a thin head with low retention.
Predominant aroma of sweet caramel malt and biscuit, cinnamon, butterscotch and very light hay and grains.
Amazing how the taste changed from the bottles I had outside its home country. Over there I felt much less hay and grains which is generally big on this brand, which is not really bad, it is in my opinion their trademark. But it felt more pleasant this way. Flavor of caramel and toasted malts, a bit of herbal and floral hops, wood and cinnamon. Mild bitterness.
Light to medium body with good carbonation.
As other Kunstmann, the focus here is malt, malt, and malt. But still it is a nice brew and fairly drinkable.

This beer pours a see thru copper hue with nice carbonation that leaves a two finger head with average lacing,it has a full, funky, fruity hop aroma to it, and it has a thin mouthfeel with a fruity hop taste about it that us easy enough to drink wouldnt chase it down by any means.

A: Pours a rich dark amber with some foamy head on top.

S: Dark malts with traces of hop.

T: Taste of Earthy malty slight hops. Dark roasty flavors.

M: Well rounded flavors and a med bodied slightly chewey.

D: Not to bad of an example of chiliean beer, could drink a few of these.
