Bottle, 4.8% ABV, RBNAG 2009 in Vatlandsvåg. Cognac to deep amber colour, moderate off-white head. Distinct aroma of wort, malts and rye bread. The flavour is dominant malty with notes of brown bread, low bitterness. Nice.

Alts are nigh unto impossible to find in Tallahassle, FL (yes I spelt it that way on purpose). And Tally is a metropolis compared to my hometown of Cairo, GA. Yes, I have to regularly travel an hour both ways to find any decent suds. Malt lickah, Swiller, Buttwiper and the like is about all that's available here. Heck, I'm thankful if I can find Poverty Beer (PBR) or even Schitz. American macrobrewed lagers and pilsners are barely palatable to me. I'd rather go without. Or get back to brewing my own.

Bought in a EDEKA supermarket in Duisburg during our ride home to Amsterdam. Kept it in the fridge for almost a week and I drink it out of my Stange glass.
very clear copper with plenty of carbonation, fine to medium to coarse bubbles
promising nose of very dark bread, rye bread. hint of smoke. fruity as well of the dark fruits kind
taste is malty, bready but crisp and clean. little coffee and bitterness
thin but not watery. refreshing well integrated carbonation.
Nice Altbier that steers away from the metallic taste that so many beers of this colour seem to exhibit.

Pours a medium brown color with a small white head. Aroma is of light roasted malts, caramel and nuts.
The flavour is malty and sweet with medium bitter finish, the flavour really is a little bland. The texture is oily but the mouthfeel is a little watery. Medium carbonation with a medium body. This altbier was a little to uninspiring, but decent enough.

Pours a brilliant hazelnut brown color with a big, froth, white head, which coats the glass the entire time.
Smells of toasted rustic bread, a lactic tartness and sweet toffee malts creating a nice harmony on the nose.
Drinks soft and light with a pleasantly effervescent finish.
Tastes of toasty malts from the very beginning with lots of accompanying whole grain bread crust and a subtle toffee note. Sweeter during the midpalate with a glazed caramel peak, toned down by earth, bakers chocolate and a whiff of leaves. Finishes chocolaty wirh a pleasant dry note, together with earthen malts and an aqueous softness, after the effervescence has left the palate.
Very nice, heavily relying on the malts, while producing a surprisongly unique, harmonious and intriguing flavor profile.
