A hoppy brown ale built for winter's deepest days, "Sick Day" is knee-deep in piney, spicy hop flavors and nicely balanced by a warming, toasty malt presence that'll warm your soul after a day in the snow.

Grab your gear and call out, because some days are too good to miss.

Recipe change from IPA to Hoppy Brown Ale in 2015.

This was poured into a nonic pint glass. The appearance was a semi-dark brown color with a one finger white foamy head that roamed around the glass in a fairly thick foamy way. The smell starts off with bitter resinous pine rolling over some sweet nuts and a little bit of cocoa. The taste was bitter initially with a rolling nutty sweetness underneath. A dry piney to semi-nutty aftertaste leads into the finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium in body with a rugged sessionability about it. I say that because of the piney resin and the dryness that comes from it really hits hard on my tongue. Overall, I see its labeled as an American IPA on here, and I can see how people might think that, but because of the look and some undertones in the smell and taste, I’m pretty sure this is an American Brown ale, its just hopped up a bit more.

This one is a toasty and spicy brown ale that has a subtle malt finish with a little crispness thrown in. Not sure why it is considered a seasonal. Not bad; not overwhelming, but does make for a decent quaff.

Dark chestnut body, somewhat cloudy looking, with a thin cream colored head. Aroma is a bit of dark fruits, and some toasty malts. Flavor follows with some sweetness up front followed by a toasty finish with a dash of caramel. Feel is smooth, medium bodied and medium carb. Not a bad beer; almost like a light barleywine.

This is a hoppy brown ale. The hops are not overwhelming and the beer remains smooth like a brown ale. Great taste - just the brown ale plus a stronger hop profile. You can pick up the malt and caramel smell and taste to the brew. Beautiful brown color, and it pours with a strong head that lingers. Great beer.
