Solid black color, a bit if a thick creamy feel to it. Aroma is roasted malt, bitter cocoa, dark espresso beans. Taste is identical,a little bit of a smoky taste as well. An overall excellent porter that I wouldn't hesitate to pick up some more of again

LONG TRAIL UNEARTHED STOUT 9/10/17

Poured from the 12 oz. bottle into a Samuel Smith English tulip pint.

a; Opaque black with a hint or clear ruby at the bottom. Inch thick head receded slowly to thick even surface foam and dense to spotty lacing.

s; Milk Chocolate

t; Follows the nose a bit along with smokiness and soon black coffee notes. Sweetish finish.

m; Medium, good body and carbonation tingle.

o: A tasty and satisfying stout with great flavors including about everything you'd expect from a good stout. The medium ABV (almost 8%) is very nicely covered. Kudos to Long Trail, which also offers this bourbon barrel aged (see my review).

Having a couple of 12oz bottles to warm me up on an unseasonably cool, raw September day....

Poured into a small tulip, it is a dense, opaque brew, with a short, fine layer of tan bubbles. Lacing was decnt though not all over. Aroma has some roasty choco, some charred malts and hints of florality. It is quite smooth on the tongue, and the body is a nudge above medium.

Flavor has more dark choco, some cocoa, and some bitter, espresso-ish action. Also has some subtle notes of dark fruit before getting more floral in the finish, which is on the dry side. A solid stout, all-in-all! Prosit!

Look is velvety dark black/brown, smell is roasted malt, taste is slightly richer than Guinness extra stout but very similar (I'm a loyal Guinness stout drinker yet I like Unearthed just a bit more!), feel is smooth but maybe a little 'thinner' than Guinness extra stout. I tried this for the first time a year ago and keep going back to it when I can find/afford it. I wish it was a bit less expensive, but not at the expense of the great taste. I'd love to find this on tap at a local pub; have yet to find it in any iteration at pubs I've frequented.
