So I hardly ever talk bad about a beer if I don't like it. Generally it's a style thing. "I don't really like the style, but I'm sure it's what they wanted it to taste like."
But This is a style I love. Tropical and juicy ipas with some tangy piney notes.
BUT this beer tastes weird to me. I get a mid mouth sulfur taste. I have never experienced this before.
Someone else described it as a cardboard taste.
Definitely not for me.

12oz. bottle served in a shaker pint. No bottled-on date evident. Pours an orange-gold with a slight haze to the clarity and a tight, quarter inch, bright white head that eventually settles into a consistent 1/8th inch cap. Nose expresses muted notes of tropical fruit and biscuit malt. Taste is a bit weird - medicinal in the top layer and more of the muted tropical fruit quality present in the nose. There is also the start of some metallic notes beginning to develop. Mouthfeel is light-medium in body (but closer to light) with a pleasant, even carbonation. Overall - not good and bordering on a drain pour. Hopefully this is just an old bottle.

Had fresh on tap.

Pours the standard Long Trail well-filtered brownish amber with a decent white head that laces and retains fairly well. Grassy, earthen hops dominate both the aromas and flavors, with hints of caramel malts and bitter citrus. Feels.... like an IPA. Overall very average

Slightly hazy orange copper color with thin head that disappears quickly to a film. Aroma has a bit of lemon and grapefruit over a bready malt in the background. I prefer nice clean hops without the malt coming through personally.

Taste is sweet with caramel tones up front giving way to a citrus hop flavor. Near the end the bitterness kicks in - which is a nice touch - and you are left with a more floral taste lingering, like citrus flowers. No doubt this is a nice blending of the caramel malt with hops. For me there is too much sweet. It leaves the lips sticky but this shouldn't dissuade one from trying it. There are far more sweet and sticky beers out there. However this beer has a thickness to the feel almost like being oated - the lupulin I am guessing? Nice touch but it can make it feel a little heavy.

In the end I find the beer good as an attempt at the northeast "hazy IPA" but not great. I think it is a bit heavy handed in the flavor and I feel the best way to employ the lupulin magic dust is to mix it with a strong hop flavor, which this beer lacks. This is better than their flagship IPA and shows they are keeping up with the trends and times... at least in spirit.

Bitter without much flavor. Bitterness overwhelms the flavor. Nothing to see here.
