By far the CLASS of the Long Trail Lineup! This beer has a rich amber color, and a pretty good head. It smells sweet and malty. The taste is malty, sweet, and there is a hint of hops with a citrus tinge in there somewhere, strangely enough. It's smooth mouthfeel can lead you to keep drinking..Beware! The strong ABV is hidden well in this intense flavour experience. Bravo Long Trail!

Wow! This beer was more than I expected, I think that "Long Trail" put's out decent product, usually a 7 out of 10 across the board, this was better!

I got a nice half inch head, dicipated after a few and left nice lace behind, I smelled the alcohol mostly at first sniff, the taste has a nice bite, buiscuity malt, then an almost intense alchohol bite that finishes with a fruity hop finish. The after taste is pleasent, with a "milky" mouth feel.

I really enjoyed this .

Double Bag was served from a 12 oz. bottle with a label illustrating a healthy pair of bags. In a pint glass, the beer was a beautifully rich red-orange color, and was topped by an ample, fine white head. The nose was rich and enticing, with a lightly roasty oatmeal cookyish maltiness and an excellent citric-vague banana fruity edge as a counter point. The taste was also rich and very well-developed, with a lightly astringent/roasty chewy malt profile that released some oatmeal-raisin cookie-banana and limey citirc flavors in the transition to the tasty, chewy (though still slightly astringent) malty, moderately bittered, light citric-fruity finish. I simply loved the flavors and flow this brew had to offer. To top it off, the body was perfectly bodied (med-full) with just the right amount of lively carbonation. It drank quite well too, even for a stronger beer. Double Bag is a top-notch brew!

Had this a while back; remembered as being good. Mmmm, sorry now it's been so long! Just had to have more!!! Clear copper color, with a thin, fine head; minimal lace. Caramel-notes in a pleasing malty nose. Sweet, toasty malt flavors co-mingle with caramel, leading to a nice little hop twang at the end. Real good body, and a creamy smoothness. Warming as it goes down, and those hops linger on the palate. A real winner from Long Trail. This one goes down verrry easily!!! Surprised there aren't more reviews for this and the rest of their line. I think this makes 100?!! Hot dog!!

a- This poured an insanely clear orange amber color with a creamy off-white head that didn't retain very well. The lacing is nice but was only created from the head right at the top, none throughout the drinking.

s- Amazing aroma. Very unique. At first i detected this odd sweetness, possibly banana? The smell has a very faint floral hoppiness to it but more prominent is the sweet caramel malts.

t- So yummy. There was enough hop to balance the malt flavor. The hint of caramel is very tasty. Really clean fruity malt taste. Nice and bold.

m- Moderate but very smooth. Kinda sticky and there is a decent tingle from the carbonation.

d- Wow this is so drinkable. You could throw a few of these back with no difficulty. How is this 7.3 abv? Such a unique bold and drinkable beer from longtrail, I certainly did not expect this. Highly reccomemended.

Rich and complex ale. A hint of alcohol on the nose first lets you know what you're in for but a grainy malt sweetness balances it off nicely. Extremely drinkable for its strength.

Pours Light amber with a small head.

Smell is malty and sweet, with maple syrup and apricot notes.

Taste is freakin awesome. Nicely balanced and damned smooth. Slightly tart on the swallow

Mouthfeel is a little bubbly.

Outstanding drinkability, By far the most drinkable brew at this ABV.

Just a great beer that is hard to point out individual details, but is just an excellent beverage that always leaves me smiling and satisfied.

Pours a light mahogany-amber color with a nice two finger head. Nice and clear. Nice smell of fresh biscuits and hops.

Wonderful caramel, bread, and toasted malt plays an important role here. The hop leaf note melds seamlessly with the malt. Toffee, honey, and fruit play a second role in the malt department -- just layers of sweet -- but balanced -- rich flavors. Creamy and medium to full-bodied. A bit of chew to the mouthfeel and the carbonation helps cut through to reveal a clean finish. So easy to drink and pleasing to the palate it is criminal. At over 7% ABV, I need to be careful because I could throw these back without much thinking involved.

I paid $7.99 for a six pack and feel like I just robbed a bank. A big "cheers" to Long Trail for making a mighty fine altbier (er, stickebier, according to the label). I think I found a new "go to" beer -- I must keep a few of these around at all times.

12oz bottle into alt glass

A--- Polished copper with a one inch white head that faded quickly leaving behind lace and legs.

S---Malt, brown sugar, apricot and slight esters.

T---Slight caramel sweetness and saltine crackers flavored base malt forward. More intense malt with just enough bitterness to balance followed. It finished with a subtle alcohol presence that was warming.

M---Medium bodied

D---One of my top all-time favorites and I drink it year-round. It’s just dry enough to quench on a hot day and at 7%, it could melt a snow bank if you happen to fall in one after a 6-pack.

Poured a 12oz bottle into a Samuel Adams glass. Has a bright, slightly cloudy copper color. Short-lived creamy white head leaves a small amount of lacing. Aroma is rich and sweet, with notes of caramel, bread and fruit. Taste is very similar with just a slight hint of bitter hops on the finish. Has a very small carbonation and nice mouthfeel, not too thin or thick. This is a great big-flavored ale

Beautiful looking brew. Deep amber? barely orange color. Not red. Moderate carbonation. Very nice head that has left nice lacing on the glass. Has settled down to about 5mm of head. Very nice. The way the bubbles move through the beer is beautiful. Has really nice 'legs'.

Very nice nose. Mostly sweet, caramelly malts. Munich and vienna I imagine. Very nice and rich. Also get a touch of something spicy. I'd say it was hops, but I can't be sure. Maybe just a touch fruity. Just barely.

Wow. Really incredibly rich tasting beer. If it wasn't for the hint of astringency in the finish I'd give it a 5 for sure. Really perfectly balanced between rich, warm malts and bitter, spicy hops. Really nicely done. So subtle yet so rich. The hop character in this beer is what really impresses me. I love the rich malty goodness, but the hop flavor is so subtle yet so flavorful and unique. I mean, it's a fairly bitter beer, but the hops are not citrusy, they're more spicy and maybe a bit earthy than anything else .

Excellent mouthfeel. Really nice and substantial without being overly thick. Right on.

Very drinkable beer. Just a little astringent in the finish, but not really at all. I just can't bring myself to say this beer is perfect. It's damn close, just a little astringent in the finish...damn! Nto cloying at all. I love this brew.

Appearance - Pours a beautiful copper color, hint of red under my kitchen light. A little less than an inch of head that dissipated but did not disappear. Excellent lacing
Smell - Caramel malt, slightly sweet, very enticing, like the color.
Taste - Wow! Caramel, candy, hops are in there, complimenting the malt. Smooth and balanced.
Mouthfeel - Medium body, feels sticky (in a good way). Slight bitterness.
Overall - I've not had this style before, and that will change starting this weekend. Very good beer, especially on a cold winter night.

Pours out a nice copper amber with a white head. One will fall in love with the malt flavor of this wonderful Alt ale. The mouthfeel is superb. Feels so good and tastes so good. A touch of hops finishes the sip quite well. This brew has everything going for it. We drink it all night long! If you're in the VT area get yourself a case. You will not regret it.

Now here's a kick ass beer....a double alt is something new to me but it seems to fit that is rich, sweet and syruppy, but also exhibits alt bier like characteristics...pours an impressively clear dark orange.....nose smells a bit like a scotch ale minus the smokiness....malty...some alcohol (like rum..and even some nuttiness....with some floral hop notes....I mentioned the body, but it finishes with a nice tight dry hop bite....that really seems to balance this out and make it special....the taste is very malty....sweet plums,pears,mangos....but then there is that nice dry finish....this is really a dandy..a big giant ZAP thanks to Bierman9 for this beauty....

Appearance: Pours a deep whiskey shade of brown with not that much head at all.

Smell: I'm not picking up much aroma with this. Just a faint hint of malt and bready yeast but that's it.

Taste: Wow. This beer is all about balance. A perfect ying of malty sweetness and yang of hop bitterness. Nothing stands out above the other. Perfect.

Mouth-feel: Smooth on the palate--nicely carbonated.

Overall: This beer is stunning. I'm currently doing a road trip thru the North East and turning it into a beercation. So now my big dilemma is: Should I continue sampling other NE brews, or should I head back to Sam the Beer Man in Binghamton and Buy a shit-load more Double Bag Longtrail? Oh how I suffer.
