Found out about this one during the winter. The local beer shop in Ludlow, VT had it. The gentleman who owns the place told me it was long trail's hit the trail which isn't made year round or seasonal it's a specialty one usually with another label on it. I don't know if that is correct. But none the less it poured well for me it seemed into a pint glass, with a nice amber colour too it. For me the smell did put me off, but as i learned sometimes a bad smell can be a great tasting beer. Seemed to me that it had no head and very little lacing present. Also had some nice malty undertones of vanilla and caramel. Overall I would buy this again and recommend this.

Jay Peak Tram Ale
A–Rusty like the rails in the terrain park. Poured in regular pint glass
S¬–Like 62 sweaty skiers packed into the tram for a 7 minute ride up to the summit, with a hint of Wet Dog.
T–Very malty and Mollases-esque, but only the best kind.
M–Feels like giving your wet dog a kiss on the forehead. But in the happiest way possible.
D–No bitter aftertaste, but very malty.
O–Just like wet dogs, I like this beer.

A: crystal clear; mahogany in color; 1 finger khaki head that receded to a wispy cap; very nice lacing;

S: bittersweet chocolate for a moment, then roasted grain; a little coffee comes in at the end; a little spicy;

T: coffee is predominant from start to finish; some roasted grain and cherry in the background; mild bitterness on the finish;

M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation; lightly dry finish;

O: perfect beer to drink in front of a fireplace;

Bottle says only available in VT. My guess is you'd be hardpressed to find it outside of the Jay area, but if you do, snatch it up. It's like a darker/hoppier version of Long Trail Ale. Extremely pleasing, especially after a long day in the Jay glades.

Pours a three finger off-white head that fades quickly leaving a good lace. Nice crystal clear red-amber color. Light carbonation and light bodied. Fruity nose. Flavor is lacking - watery sweet without much backbone. Some hops at finish. Contract brewed for Jay Peak Resort by Long Trail. $1.50 for a 12oz bottle from Beverage Warehouse Winooski, VT.

Bottle brought back by a traveling neighbor (as "Jay Peak Tram Ale"). This brew is a clear dark amber color with a thin and foamy beige head that dissipates slowly. Small patches of lacing. Aroma of sweet toffee and malt. Light, clean body with sweet grainy malt, caramel and fruit flavors. Very little hops are detected. The finish is sweet with caramel malt lingering in the aftertaste. Pretty average overall.

Pours a nice light amber brown with a very small head. I enjoy the balanced taste. It's a mellow Long Trail Ale with great mouthfeel. Perfect texture on a brown ale of such is a wonderful thing. This is similar to Long Trail's Church St. Tavern Ale. Snag this gem if you see it around town. I got the hookup at Pearl St Bev, but you could always go up to Jay Peak for a fix.

Pretty decent brew and goes down great after a day up on the mountain. Procured at the little store in Montgomery (tiny town near Jay). Nice brownish-amber with a pleasing hop aroma. Taste is well balanced, smooth, with a nice hoppy finish. I like it better than some of Long Trail's other offerings, although Double Bag is still the best. Still, its the perfect beer to have if you're skiing Jay. I have no idea why, maybe its just good memories associated with my experiences with this beer. Grab some if you can.

12 ounce bottle brought back by a traveling buddy. 010213 etched onto the bottle (Bottling date?)

Pours a nice warm shade of medium brown, clear, typical khaki head, stays well and leaves a high collar and nice fine lacing.

Malty nose picked up on this pretty straight forward brew.

Malty with mild dry hops in the back ground.

Nothing super special, but this is an easy drinking, smooth, very sessionable offering.

Bet it would taste after a day on the Vermont slopes...
