Nice crystal clear golden color with just a ring of white foam, although it may have been the pour or an older keg. Wonderful aroma of berries that you can pick almost up as soon as they put the glass in front of you. The taste was crisp and clean, but the great berry scent was hardly evident in the flavor. Beer seemed flat and the flavor, though sweet with a bit of malt and berry fruitiness, seemed a bit weak and watery. Other than the smell, I wasn't much impressed with this. I'll have to try a bottle and see if my opinion changes.

This is a beer to drink when you're really hot and thirsty, and you don't really care what it tastes like. It's a clear yellow color with a small head. Aroma is minimal, some malt and wheat. It had a sweet, fruity taste, was also a little bit bread-like. Nothing very exciting, and not a particularly good example of a fruit beer.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz. bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: The body was a clear pale yellow color with a thin white head. Its head just covered the body and left only minimal lacing on the glass.

Smell: The aroma had a pleasant bouquet of sweet wild berries with some notes of grain and wheat malts.

Taste/Mouth feel: It has a semi-sweet blackberry flavor up front that is held in check buy the twang of the wheat. These two flavors are balanced nicely and work very well together. Hop flavor is very mild offering only a very slight herbal flavor and almost no bitterness. The taste thins towards the finish, which is crisp and slightly dry. Its body is light with a crisp refreshing texture and an average to fizzy carbonation.

Notes: This beer has a nice solid flavor with an easy to drink body that makes for a nice hot weather refresher.

Pours a pale golden with lots of soda-like carbonation. Head comes and goes like a Budweiser. Smells of berries and skunk, not much else.

Taste is of berries again, and maybe a hint of malt. Not much else to speak of. Very watery mouthfeel with tons of big bubble carbonation, like soda, as previously stated. It is very crisp I guess and maybe would be okay on an extremely hot day. But that's what pale ales are for.

I only tried this because my girlfriend bought it and is into fruity beers. Not my cup of tea. Actually, she was dissapointed as well.

12 oz brown bottle with "Bottled On" freshness date.

A- Crystal clear pale yellow color, thin white lace. Very light in color ...

S- Sweet-tart berry aroma, hint of beery grain as well.

T&M- Light bodied and semi-dry, crisp with a grain front. Twang of wheat goes well with the berry flavor. Faint malt show off its only beer quality ... ghost like hops barely are seen.

D- A great hot weather quencher, that is about it.

This is definitely among my top favorite fruit beers, mostly because the blackberry taste is distinct but not overwhelming. I think blackberry is a unique flavor for a fruit beer which makes this brew all the more tasty!

It pours a translucent golden color with a white foamy head. It smells of blackberries, like the taste, strong but not overwhelming. The flavor is both sweet and mildly tart. The initial taste is blackberries followed by a wheat beer flavor but the blackberry taste lingers.

It feels slightly carbonated in your mouth, typical of a wheat beer. This beer is very drinkable, like most fruit beers it goes down easily and is gone before you realize it. Refreshing during a hot summer day, it's a must-have summer brew if you enjoy fruit beer varieties.

12 ounce bottle without freshness dating given. Pours clear, very light amber, near white, minimal head, that quickly departs, leaving no trace of lacing. Nose is just a hint of powdered sugar. This is a light liguid, with a trace of beer like qualities, including some faint notes of fruity berries. Pricey, slightly fruity, lawn mower beer....

I'm not a huge fan of fruity beers, but this is definitely one of the more drinkable ones I have tried. The fruit taste isn't too overpowering, and the aftertaste isn't too heavy. It's a shame that many people only visit Vermont in Ski season and miss out on this one.

Appearance: clear, straw gold in color, medium carbonation, no head

Smell: blackberries and wheat

Taste: wheat, grass, and a big dose of blackberries towards the end towards the end.

Mouthfeel: medium/light bodied, high carbonation, crisp

Drinkability: A nice light lager with a good, but not overpowering taste. Not the most complex beer. A summer treat and a favorite from Long Trail. This is an excellent camping beer that I could have six of in the summer and a couple in other seasons.

I loved the aroma on this beer. Don't be misled, though. Very little blackberry flavor is evident. It poured a clear golden color and was very clean. This is a beer I could drink for hours during the summertime. Very light and refreshing. Perfect for a hot summer day.

The label is pretty humorous, too.

Like I said in my review of the brewery, I wish we could get this beer in Virginia.

poured into a large bowled wheat glass from a 12oz brown long necked bottle with a crimped on cap.Liked the Ma and Pa bears on the label, recieved this on a trade from Sudsdog.

Clear,straw/light golden color 2" thick fluffy white head, dissapating a bit quick leaving a coating of foam.Very livey carbination many constiant streams of tiny bubbles getting larger as they race to the surface.

Clean fresh aromas slightly tart, subtle yeast aromas American wheat yeast i would guess.Bisquity, slightly doughy.A good moderate blackberry aroma, pleasing not overbearing.

Clean with fruity tartness a pleasing blackberry taste, not overdone.I seem to get a lot of hints of melon like tastes. No real wheat beer character more like a flavored lager. Tastes about the same throughout finishes like it starts.

Light airy mouthfeel, crisp, pleasing. Refreshing beer great for a hot summer day. Got to drink this out on the deck today. A good beer for the ladies my sis-in-law wheatgirl would enjoy this beer.

I remember drinking this beer when I was first getting into craft beer. I would have given it an A+, I just thought it was so great, a pretty hearty beer (as compared to BMC) with an awesome fruity kick to it.

However, as I've starting having more and more craft beer, including a lot of fruit beer, I really have to say I'm quite disappointed now, it's my least favorite in the variety packs.

It's a pretty clear yellow color with no head, it does have a great wheat & Blackberry aroma to it which is very appealing, and the taste seems almost watered down compared to say one of Dogfish Heads fruit beers. However on a hot summer day or when you're moving it's a great beer.

12oz bottle pulled from my fridge served into a standard pint glass. bottled on 07/29/10.

pours a rather watery looking, very clear, pale straw yellow color with about a one finger of white head. faded quickly to a ring, then eventually to nothing, poor retention. hardly any lace. looks somewhat similar to a macro.

not a huge aroma. whiffs of medicinal black berry, and very faint wheat and grains. nothing offensive however, which most fruit wheat beers cant say.

a light taste as well. some light tart blackberry blends nicely with some grains and wheat.

light body, carbonation, although fizzy, is still fine and feels nice. a touch watery at times.

very nice drinkability, great for hot summer days. i would buy this again, im just in no hurry. this would be a nice beer for women or people just making the switch from macro to craft.

Very light all around. Light color, light aroma, light flavor. Color was as if someone put a drip of yellow egg coloring liquid into tap water. Head was low and white and left the scene quickly. Aroma was of blackberry, but nothing else. Flavor was of light, sweet blackberry, but nothing else. Wouldn't even have guessed that it was a wheat. No malt or hop profile. Watery mouthfeel, a bit of fizzy carbonation. Disappointing selection.

Let me just say up front that I am a big fan of Long Trail ales, but this is a dog going down the wrong path. The beer looks and smells as if you took some blackberry flavoring and dumped it in a bud, miller lite, etc...

The taste is unremarkable at best. The berry quickly leaves and there is no discernable wheat texture or taste. Mouthfeel is akin to tap water.

There are some really good fruit ales out there, this isn't one of them.

Long Trail's Blackbeary Wheat pours a clear golden color (and I do mean clear. I almost thought of a glass of purified water). The head is moderate and lasts for only a short time. The smell is faintly of fruity blackbeary's, not much else. The taste is weak, being only a slight blackbeary flavoring. The mouhfeel is weak, watery, thin. I am a bit bummed about this brew, I had higher expectations. This is not a beer I can recommend, it tastes like an artificialy flavored bud (however, do not let this offering from Long Trail stop you from giving their Double Bag a try. Now that is a fine and tasty brew).
