Style: American Strong Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 11.00%

Notes / Commercial Description:
Triple Bag is brewed in a small batch from single infusion that uses only the first runnings of the mash. The result is a brew made from only the purest part of the grains, providing a uniquely rich and dense flavor, with an aroma reminiscent of the finest dessert wines. This brew is naturally carbonated and is an example of brewing purity that is rarely experienced by those other than brewers themselves.

Reviewed from notes. The appearance had a dark brown/amber colored body that left a film of a small white head. Some really light spider web lacing graced the sides of the glass. The body was too dark for any carbonation to be seen rising. The smell was malty with some nice strong scents of dark fruits coming in strong. The taste takes these same flavorings and ends up hiding the alcohol very well. The palate sits about a medium with some slight sharpness on the tongue. Since the alchol was hidden well, I would say this was a mostly drinkable beer. Overall, hey, this was a good one, I liked it for the style and for the beer, I would definitely get this again.

I'm under the impression that "Triple Amber" is just a fun way to say Barleywine. Or at least when it comes to this beer. It pours a clear deep copper to mahogany with a thin bubbly off white head. Smells of dark fruits, rich caramel malt, a heaping of spicy , floral, and herbal hops, and a hint of alcohol. Flavor follows in the form of caramel covered dark fruits and toffee. A healthy sweetness is followed by an intense bitterness (despite what its 65 ibu would indicate), and to my surprise finished rather dry over the stickiness that I was expecting. Overall, this was a pretty darn good "Triple Amber" categorized as an "American Strong Ale" that resembles a "Barleywine". Cheers!

Poured from a 2016 bottle into the test glass.
A - hammered seasoned copper color, meandering carbonation wanders topside. Thin cap and lacing.
S - Woods, pines, and mustiness. narrow in this area.
T - Woo, lots of caramel, toffee, and again piney hops. Very nice
M - Medium in body, a bit oily, nicely carbonated, bitter and dry finish, with a boozy exhale.
O - A big effort, like a faux barleywine. I do like the bitter dry finish.
I will stash some and revisit

slightly hazed amber color with an off white head that dissipates quickly and leaves a few patches of lace.

the aroma is absolutely magnificent - some citric notes are complimented wonderfully by sweet and creamy malts. reminiscent of orange marmalade, orange-vanilla creamsicle, candied lemon and lime, some subtle grassy floral notes, toffee and caramel as well... just a hint of bitterness from the hops. really nice nose.

unfortunately the taste doesnt live up to the smell - some orange notes as well as toffee and caramel, but there is some bitterness and booze coming through that doesnt work well with the flavor profile.

mouthfeel is on point, medium-full bodied, fluffy creamy texture.

The beer pours a nice white and creamy head that dissipates very quickly. The beer itself is a clear medium amber color with a nice reddish hue. The beer appearance is decent but it isn't certainly anything to brag about either.

The smell is pretty good. While it does have a nice resin bitterness to it, the beer has a strong caramel sweet note with a bit of alcohol sweetness and hint of vanilla boosting it that seems to cut right through the bitterness and contrast it rather well. Technically, the sweetness is the stronger of the two notes but barely. It's almost fairly balanced but tips towards the sweeter side.

The taste still has that caramel sweetness with the vanilla to it but it has a nice bitter aftertaste that lasts. The bitterness isn't overwhelming but it comes out stronger in the taste than in the smell.

The feel is good. It's a heavy bee but feels much more drinkable than someone would expect from the style. The beer has some nice tingling carbonation to it and gives it a nice texture.

Overall, a decent beer and worth getting when it's available. Like most of what the brewer offers, it isn't a tantalizing flavor bomb but a reliable beer that provides a decent drinking experience.

Pours into a chalice a slight hazed lighter amber shade with a thinner off white head atop.Big caramel malts with some alcohol drenched dar fruits,if you're into big malt beer this is it for you.Sweet brown sugar and caramel/vanilla flavors dominate, along with boozy alcohol it gets a bit sweet after awhile. Not overly complex,it is what it is a big sweet malt bomb, good for a night cap beer in my opinion.
