Long Trail Imperial Porter features a complex, darkly roasted malt flavor complemented by a thin, creamy head. The abundance of malt is balanced with a variety of hops, creating a clean finish. The recipe has been a homebrew secret that was developed by one of our own brewers. We are proud to present Long Trail Imperial Porter...ENJOY!

Bomber with 072809 etched onto the bottle. Bottling date info perhaps? Pours real dark, dark tan head, nice frothyness and retention, with fine spots and strands of lace. Pungent nose doused with notes of chocolate, coffee and piney hops. A load of chocolate on the tongue. Bold and quite flavorful. I'd love to try this one with vanilla dessert to let the flavors battle it out. Hops quite evident and adding nicely to the complexity. Fine brew, nice for an after dinner sipper or with a bold dessert. Simply yummy, dark beer lovers rejoice and go get some of this stuff, clearly well worth a try.

Cellared for an indefinite amount of time - I'm guessing around 4 to 5 years. Started the habit of marking with a silver sharpie some point after that.
Brown on the pour, very deep brown nearly black in the glass. Dark tan head, very good size and retention. Aroma of vanilla, chocolate, roasted malts, albeit a little less strong than preferred. Taste is perfect for an imperial porter vs a stout - everything in the aroma, but not overpowering, and the finish is shorter. Body is also thinner than an imperial stout, but thicker than a normal porter with just the right amount of carbonation.
Overall - a standard by which to judge any imperial porter, and no negative signs from aging after this substantial time.
