Long Trail Imperial Porter features a complex, darkly roasted malt flavor complemented by a thin, creamy head. The abundance of malt is balanced with a variety of hops, creating a clean finish. The recipe has been a homebrew secret that was developed by one of our own brewers. We are proud to present Long Trail Imperial Porter...ENJOY!

Pours pitch black with with cola brown highlights when held toward the light, head had a light kahki tan hue nice evenly spread lacing. Aroma has citrus herbal leafy hops with dark chocolate malts flowing. Flavor has roasted malts with dark bitter chocolate and hars coffee edges, but there's also some strong hop bitterness and herbal/citrus qualities left on the tongue. This is the hoppiest dark beer I've come across really super hoppy flavors within an imperial porter, it's great definitely an American take on it nothing like a Baltic porter. Fuller bodied sturdy carbonation leaves dark bitter roasts and hoppy bitterness with a dry finish. Overall a very nice drinkable hopped up strong porter, you can't really go wrong with this one.

Cellared for an indefinite amount of time - I'm guessing around 4 to 5 years. Started the habit of marking with a silver sharpie some point after that.
Brown on the pour, very deep brown nearly black in the glass. Dark tan head, very good size and retention. Aroma of vanilla, chocolate, roasted malts, albeit a little less strong than preferred. Taste is perfect for an imperial porter vs a stout - everything in the aroma, but not overpowering, and the finish is shorter. Body is also thinner than an imperial stout, but thicker than a normal porter with just the right amount of carbonation.
Overall - a standard by which to judge any imperial porter, and no negative signs from aging after this substantial time.
