Had this af a pumpkin tasting along with 23 other pumkin beers

Say what you want. This was a blind tasting... .

There were 6 judges... of the six... one judge had it #1 and 4 of the 6 had it in there top 5.

Had the best pop... cleanest taste.. very good brew and I would look for this one when seeking out pumpkin brews

I guess i liked this a little more than others.Pours a clear deep burnt orange with a thinner white head atop.Pumpkin pie spice....clove,cardamom,and cinnamon mainly in the nose with a hint of toast.Very light in the feel but decent flavors really with the pumpkin pie spice and some light roast, not crazy sweet but sweet enough, pretty average but not horrible.

Appearance: 1/4 inch head, orange-brown in color, clear, medium-high carbonation

Smell: pumpkin spice, sugar, and bread

Taste: earth, pale malt, and pumpkin spice

Mouthfeel: sweet with a underlying dry bitterness, medium-high carbonation, light bodied

Overall: Of all the pumpkin beers I have had this fall, this one is one of the more disappointing ones. If you like your pumpkin spice more subtle and the beer a bit more on the pale side, this one is probably for you. Long Trail has a different take on the style, I just wish the pumpkin spice or breadiness would have popped some more.

I had tried the Long Trail Pumpkin last year and was impressed by the rich, smooth pumpkin taste. The spiced pumpkin flavor lingered for a long time. So impressed that I ran out and picked up a case this year as soon as it was available. This year's beer is vastly different than last year. Considerably less pumpkin flavor and a harsh bitterness than wreaks havoc on the taste buds. I even tried increasing the sweetness by dipping the glass in cinnamon sugar. Did not help. Unfortunately, as with many of the pumpkin ales you really need to sample the beer each year before you commit to a supply of it. Pity the Long Trail is such a disappointment this year.

12 oz bottle at fridge temp poured into a snifter.

Pours a clear deep copper/ amber, decent off white head holds a thin layer, spotty lacing.

Not a huge aroma. Traces of pumpkin spice, mostly cinnamon and nutmeg. Some dusty, earthy aromas, yeast? Bits of sweet malt.

Bitter sweet malt, pumpkin pie spice, hints of fleshy pumpkin. Hints of dusty, earthy notes.

I prefer a bit more body in my pumpkin ales.

A pretty lack luster average pumpkin ale. Good drinkability if you wanted to pound down a sixes, but not something I would seek out.

12 oz bottle, poured into a pint glass

Appearance: Pours a cloudy, orange/comer color with a quarter of a finger of white head that quickly dissolved away into nothing.

Aroma: Very spicy. Lots of all-spice, nutmeg, molasses and cinnamon. I also get notes of freshly baked dark bread. However, I get next to nothing in the way of hops.

Taste: Malty and pumpkin-y up front, followed by some brown sugar-like sweetness. The beer finishes with quite a bit of bitterness than I’m not used in other pumpkin beers, but it’s not really a hoppy bitterness, it’s something else, that I can’t quite put my finger on.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied, with just a little pit of carbonation. With an ABV of 5.5%, there is no presence of alcohol on the palate.

Overall: This is a pretty tasty beer. Good malty flavor up front, balanced with the pumpkin and the spices. Unique in how much bitterness appears in the finish. Interesting.

Appearance: Pours a hazy copper, with an average head of bone white froth. Thin, tree-line lace.

Aroma: Pumpkin and spice, very nice. I get some allspice, cinnamon, and of course pumpkin pie. “As advertised”, I’d say!

Taste: Definitely pumpkin pie here, with a decent amount of dryness and some bitterness at the finish. A satisfying and solid pumpkin ale — not a favorite but certainly not bad at all.
