From a can: Claims tobe an "English Ale" but there is some noticably American hopping. Pours slightly hazy deep copper colour with a thinnish off white head and moderate lacing. Aroma: grapefruity, floral, clover, caramelly, Flavour has, in addition, some honey. The bitterness in the body balances the sweetness nicely although there is a hint of metal in the back - not overly intrusive though and the overall impact is a fresh, well balanced, very quaffable beer.

Pours a copper color with a cream colored head with good retention leaving a nice trail of lace.

Tropical fruit and citrus with a bready malt touch.

A nice quick hit of tropical and citrus fruit - peach, mango, grapefruit - balanced by a biscuit malt backbone with touch of butterscotch.

Having just moved to Ottawa from Vancouver I am trying some Ontario beers and this is one of the first....in a can. This has some tropical fruits in the aroma but the taste and mouthfeel are very smooth with limited bitterness. I tried this once before and remember being very impressed and it has not disappointed on the second taste about a month later. A great session ale.

A: A dark orange brown colour, nearly opaque. It's absolutely full of very large suspended particles... It's a fresh can so that's probably intentional.

S: Faint grapefruit citrus toasty aroma.

T: Somewhat deep toasty balanced flavour with a just hint of grapefruit and citrus. Not sweet or bitter, pretty boring . The taste quickly fades away leaving a clean aftertaste.

F: Rather flat, a bit drying.

O: Too boring, not much flavour to be pompous about. The only exceptional thing about this beer is the amount of chunky particulate matter in it.

I bought a can of this in Brantford whilst in Canada for my son's hockey tournament. It poured a hazy amber with white head that is leaving a lace. The scent had mild hop. The taste is nicely balanced and easy to drink. There is a slight bitter hop finish. The Mouthfeel is medium in body with good carbonation. Overall it's a solid beer.

Pretty disappointing. Pours a nice darker colour. Then taste profile comes across messy - some caramel, some tea, an earthy presence. Hard to get through the can.

A - Dark brown body, mostly hazy close to opaque, orange highlights, off white, slightly speckled, lots and lots of tight lacing. Looks great.

S - Mild tea notes, a bit of mint, caramel and bread malt. A touch of lemon.

T - Follows the nose, with strong tea notes, lemon, a bit of orange, earthy bitter notes in the close.

M - A bit sticky, touch of drying in the close.

O - A very nicely crafted beer. Balanced. Lovely.

I actually like Great Lakes Brewery. They have some decent brews (with Audrey Hopburn being the favourite thus far).
It is with disappointment then that I have tasted this nondescript beer. There is really no redeeming quality here. I challenge anyone to remember the taste. I seriously doubt you can, chiefly because there really isn't any.
Other than the great name (quite misplaced as it may be), GLB should work on refining this brew.
