Very Good
Canuck Pale AleCanuck Pale Ale
Notes: Our version of a west coast pale ale pushes the boundaries much like the Crazy Canucks of the past. We've brewed it for those who enjoy adventure and a departure from the ordinary. The result is a wildly hoppy aroma with a lingering bitterness complemented by a soft breadly malt flavour.

Appearance - Pours a cloudy straw gold with three fingers of frothy white head.

Smell - piney, earthy, hint of citrus, leafy, and floral hops, pine resin, citrus and orange peel, hint of grapefruit peel, bready malts, caramel, and earthy yeast.

Taste - piney, earthy, hint of citrus, leafy, and floral hops upfront. The pine resin, citrus and orange peel, hint of grapefruit peel follow suit. The bready malts, caramel, and earthy yeast round out the brew.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes sticky with the hops and pine resin lingering.

Overall - A flavourful and highly sessionable APA from Great Lakes. All elements are on point. A nice tipple to sample on this long weekend.

From one of the new artwork 473ml cans. It's fresh.

Nondescript appearance. It's a pale ale, y'know? Not a lot of head. Some lacing.

A whole lot of citrus aroma. I'm pretty sure this is made with Simcoe, Citra, Chinook, and Columbus hops.

Even more of that citrus. Grapefruit-y. Some satisfyingly bready malt as well.

Bitter. Dry. Clean mouthfeel.

A solid citrusy APA. I know it's easily overlooked since it's been around forever, but this is one of the better Ontario craft beers I've had.

Excellent art on the can. In the interest of furthering my Canadian micro brewery tastings, I couldn't resist this one.
Poured into a pint from a 473ml can.

Look:Cloudy amber, a finger of white head that dissipates relatively quickly. Great lacing. 4.0

Smell: Bitter and hints of citrus, lemon and grapefruit. The smell is both dynamic and attractive. This is a beer you could smell all day and never tire. By this point I can't wait to taste it! 4.5 (best beer in terms of smell i've ever tasted.)

Taste: A perfect mix between bitter and sweet. Grapefruit, orange and lemon come together to complement one another, then with a wave of bitterness, and finally ending with pine. 3.75

Feel: Dry, clean and bitter. 4.0

Overall: This would be a great beer for people who want to get into IPA's, because it drinks like one, without the overwhelming bitterness. Overall, this beer is a pleasure to drink, and anybody who has the chance absolutely should go for it. 4.25

Slightly hazy yellow gold. Long lived creamy head that gives up a lot of interesting looking lace. A very handsome brew.

Big bitter hops with a juicy sweet character. Very resinous, plenty of pine. Interesting drinking. Lots of hops happening, but not a brutal hop assault. Grapefruit rind lingers on the palate. Mouth feel still rather soft, not a lot of carbonation - just enough.

Enjoyable, worth a try.

A fine moderately hopped pale, with good mango, grapefruit pith and pine notes, a bit of rangy wildness, and a fine hit of bitterness on the close, coupled with a restrained but solid malt backbone that keeps everything on an even keel. A fine Canadian example of the APA, this is delicious and highly drinkable, but one that definitely does not shy away from strong hop character. I'd grab this one regularly if it were on my shelves, for certain.

Enjoyable, easy drinking brew. Can see myself enjoying a couple on the deck of our cabin, in the summer, after a day of fishing.
Cloudy, decent hops, pleasing after taste.
Will purchase again.

Nothing wrong with this CPA. I like the Canadian interpretation, but this tastes like an APA. The EPA ingredients difference mostly is in the water.

This has become my regular-drinking beer of choice, and is ALWAYS in my fridge.
Lucky enough to be close enough to get a regular supply...
Very good mix of an IPA and a Lager, with complex flavors emerging; the bitterness is present but not intolerable, with a heavier, crisp mouth feel. Pours wonderfully, with just the right amount of head. Please give it a try if you find it around, you will definitely not be disappointed.

This beer totally rocks. It's light on the ABVs (clocking in at a mellow 5.2%) but the flavor ain't sacrificed for its sipability. At a light, foggy, Connie Britton hair color, its a misty cirtus beverage that is wildly enjoyable. Seriously, yummy. I'm a huge Great Lakes fan.

Great Lakes Brewing Company's Canuck Pale Ale. Brewed in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

473ml can. 5.2% alc. 35 IBUs.

Water, malted barley, hops, yeast.

Date on the can is June 5, 2017.

The beer has a thick white head.

The overall colour of the beer is honey golden.

There is a tremendous amount of sediment in this offering, as well as haziness.

The aroma is predominantly grapefruit, and a very small amount of floral notes, plus some white bread.

The taste mirrors the aromatic attributes. The hops provide a mild bitterness most noticeable at the back of the tongue.

The mouthfeel is smooth and the finish is dry.

Another great beverage from this company.

Picked up a couple cans of Canuck Pale Ale at the LCBO for Canada Day weekend. Really nice grapefruit/citrus notes, but not over the top. Very refreshing summertime beer, immediately wished I had bought more!

A really great daily beer candidate. Its light on aroma, only real complaint, but its widely available and usually fresh. Clean, hoppy balance and kind of a very upscale mainstream beer. Nothing too edgy or bboundary-pushingabout it, but its still great.

Bottle: Poured a medium copper color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of floral and lightly bitter hops is interesting. Taste is also dominated by some notes of floral and bitter hops with traces of pines and a decent caramel malt backbone. Body is about average with good carbonation. Missing some hops but still very drinkable.

On tap at C'est What, new beer. This is more of a less than contemperous bitter IPA than a classic pale ale. There is significant bitterness, and the abv seems higher than posted, more like 6%. Pours medium yellow body with noteable white head, that leaves lace. Served a bit too cold and a bit too much carbontion. Other than that, an above average non-Canadian beer.
Had it 5 months later in the LCBO distributed bottles, and bitterness there but also strong carbonation.
Had it on tap at the brewery one year later and very much liked the hops, orange characteristic, drinkability.
