Serving Type - 650ml bomber, poured into a weizen glass

Appearance - Golden/straw coloured. Very deep yellow, unfiltered and hazy. Little to no carbonation is visible. Poured with 3 fingers of bright white head which fades quickly, leaving a moderate amount of lacing behind.

Smell - Wheat (obviously), and a strong hop character. Flowers, citrus and pine...scents nornally found in pale ale. An interesting twist.

Taste - Again, wheat is most prominent. This is my first example of the style, and while I keep expecting heffe flavors the heavy bitterness reminds me that this is not, in fact a typical wheat beer. Along with this comes a good deal of citrus and a pleasant amount of pine. It's sort of like...a cross between a heffe and an APA. Very unusual. Very good.

Mouthfeel - Heavy carbonation and a light body make for a light, crisp and refreshing beverage. Goes well with patios in the sunshine.

Review from notes. LCBO purchase for around $3.50 CDN. I was certain I had reviewed this years ago, but apparently I never have. Correcting a long overdue error. 473 ml can served cold into a pint glass.

Appearance - Hazy bright golden color with a couple fingers of head. Good retention and a sparse stream of lacing.

Smell - Bready but then with a wholebunch of hops added, some earthiness and not what I was expecting. Fairly intense aroma for a lower ABV wheat beer.

Taste - Fairly bitter with some leafy hops shining through, elements of orange peel and grapefruit with a solid wheat based backing. Very nice balance between those two.

Mouthfeel - Clean and crisp, lots of carbonation, easy to drink and quite refreshing. More refreshing than most wheat beers.

Overall - The extra hopping makes this stand out as Miami Weiss is truly a cross-breed between a pale ale and a wheat beer. Great model and very well worth a tipple or two. Again, I can't believe I hadn't reviewed this until now.

LooK: Pours a hazy pale orange with a 1 1/3 finger densely bubbled bright white head. The head pulls back to a 1/4 finger head at 5 minutes.

Smell: Mandarins are the dominant smell, with some pineapple in the background. Light spring floral notes.

Taste: Starts a little chalky with dry white toast on the front end. Tropical citrus flavours dominant from the mid sip till the end. The flavours are very sweet and candy like, image a bag of fruit flavoured skittles.. Yes it tastes lemony or orangey, but not exactly like a lemon or an orange if you get my drift. Slightly bitter at the end as the hops predominate the finish.

Feel: LIght to light medium bodied. Well carbonated. The flavour palate plays on the front and sides of your tongue more than on the palate or back of the tongue. Someone prickly through the middle to the finish.

Given the name most people would initially expect this to be a weiss, but don't let the pun fool ya, it's clearly labelled as a hoppy white pale ale. So pay attention to the writting on the label, and not just the name and don't buy this expecting it to be something it ain't. It earns a clear B.

As the brewery admits it’s not really a vice. It is a pale ale packed with fruity hops. It pours slightly Misty with a moderate head settles quickly. The flavours and the rumours are dominated by citrus especially, unexpectedly, tangerines.

Appearance: Poured with a finger of head that laced well but didn't stick around. The body is semi-cloudy yellow showing a low carbonation.

Smell: Powerful lemon zest and other various citrus fruits with a shortbread background and certainly Grapefruit hops and a small pine splash. Didn't need warming to bring out its potency, but it appeared to bring out the hops more and more.

Taste: Starts with that powerful lemon and shortbread, almost like a lemon cookie, but then remembers it is a pale ale and turns to as a powerful hard water twang gets accented with pine and grapefruit hops. While I don't mind the flavors themselves independently, it doesn't seem like they should be mashed together like this.

Mouthfeel: The transitioning here is terrible, you go from a sweet, nice mild wheat beer to a hoppy and mineral filled pale ale that I'm sure would do Burton-upon-Trent proud in an instant. The carbonation helps out the entire beer, but it clings quite miserably as the mixed hop and hard water aftertaste dominate and drown out the brew.

Drinkability: What you have here is a light bodied Jekyll and Hyde brew, and much like the book, sadly Hyde wins over time. That awful, phlegm inducing aftertaste really hampers my desire to drink this. It does settle down well enough, but crisp it is not.

Final Thoughts: I had a feeling this beer wasn't going to do it for me. When I first heard of it, I thought it was just a well made Wit/Hefe, but when I was told this was actually a fairly hoppy experience and not much like a regular wheat beer. I guess this is the IPA drinkers Wit, something which I don't care for. I guess this beer made me realize that wheat does not lend itself to high hops very well. Not a fan.

Hard to find, harder to describe. Hoppy wheat beer - light body with complex yeast notes balances a decent but gentle hop bite. Great for the hot days and bbqs

Fuzzy peach body, opaque. Full, white head.
Scents of peach, orange, clementine - fresh and sweet, vibrant.
Full but light body, medium carbonation. Mild, sweet grapefruit, some fattiness, dry bitter finish. Flavour is light in general.

It's very simple and refreshing, extremely sessionable and accessible. Non-beer drinkers might like it too, would be good for parties.
