Notes / Commercial Description:
News of any new hop coming from the Yakima Valley perks the ears of IPA brewers everywhere, but, with Citra, things were different. The buzz was bigger. As Citra’s wave rolled across the land from the west coast we waited… and waited. Finally it crested, and a sample crashed into our pilot system. After brewing with it all the buzz made sense. Comments ranged from “Well that changes the game” to “It’s so good it feels like we’re cheating.” Today we procure as much as Citra as we can to bring you as much of this IPA as our little brewery can muster. All hail Citra!

A- Golden yellow with a very slight chill haze
S- Oh Citra, let me count the ways you make life better! Citrus, peach, tropical fruit, just good stuff
M- The carbonation is a little more than I like, but it does cleanse the palat
T- Very clean malt undertone that allows the hops to shine through and become the main attraction.the bitterness is upfront and subtle and then mellows with a nice smooth aftertaste. That is all Citra!
O- Really nice beer, similar to 3 Floyds Zombie Dust in my opinion...highly recommend, and a must for Citra fans.

On draught at Indie Ale House. Reviewed from notes

A - Poured a nice golden colour with a perfect finger and a half of white head. Dissipates rather quickly but leaves nice lacing.

S - Mango, sweet pineapple, grapefruit the citra is pouring out of this beer.

T - Hops all over your palate. All of the great tropical notes from the nose as well as this hop resinous take over when drinking. The bitterness stays on the palate for a long time. Truly a great tasting IPA.

M - Light mouthfeel, really easy drinking 6.6% beer. Again, the hops really coat the tongue, its so great.

O - My favourite of the GLB beers, and the best IPA out of Ontario in my opinion. I liken it to Zombie Dust, which is also a single hop citra beer. I look forward to it again and again and again. Also note that out of the bottle, this beer is really good, but not as hop forward as the pint I had on tap.

Bomber from the brewery, under the guise of Burts Reserve Stache.

Pours coppery orange with a massive foamy tan / orange hue head. Nose is bright with grapefruit, citrus, oily hops galore: fantastic. Taste is rich with the hops, but quickly diminished by the balancing caramel malt. Pineapple, citrus, pear, and sweet malt. Mouthfeel is decent, medium bodied.

Overall, the absolute best beer from Great Lakes I've tried and quite frankly the best Ontario made IPA. Why this isn't their flagship beer and readily available is shockingly confounding. Get this beauty into LCBO Great Lakes! Incredible beer!

On tap at Burgerbar in Toronto.

Clear amber with a soft off white head. Nose is slight musty, grapefruit, husky grain and a boozy tinge. Big juicy grapefruit flavour and sharp resinous body. Mouth feel itself is soft with barely-there carbonation. Hints of apple and bright fruitiness. Solid bitterness doesn't detract from excellent drink ability.

Bottle: Poured a nice clear bright yellow color ale with a large pure white foamy head with good retention and excellent lacing. Aroma of huge floral hoppy notes of citrus with some leafy notes. Taste is dominated by the leafy and citrus hoppy notes with limited bitterness and some residual sugar notes clearly identifiable. Body is light with good carbonation. I really enjoyed this beer and love the aromatics and the balancing of the bitterness.

Bomber from the LCBO. Pours a cloudy medium orange with a luxurious thick white head leaving a fair amount of lacing. Aromas of citrus and mango, some molasses with a touch of pine. Very creamy mouthfeel. Tastes are of orange peel, but not overly bitter. Almost creamsickle-like at times. Light caramel backbone especially on the swallow. Overall I am a growing fan of Citra hops and this one illustrates all of the good things that type of hop brings to the beer glass.

Pours a beguiling hazed orange with a compact, very long lasting head. Foam drapes the glass on the way down. Orange oil, lemon rind and grapefruit hop aromas dominate the nose. A bit of biscuity malt in the back. A wall of Citra in the first sip, lots of orange, lemon, apricot, grapefruit, tropical fruit, celery and other hop flavors mingle in a sublime interplay. A firm malt balast keeps things in check. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and creamy with carbonation. Moderate bitterness and citrus in the long finish.

This is a fantastic IPA and an excellent showcase of this fine hop. Lots of hop complexity and very hop forward. A must try.
