Notes / Commercial Description:
News of any new hop coming from the Yakima Valley perks the ears of IPA brewers everywhere, but, with Citra, things were different. The buzz was bigger. As Citra’s wave rolled across the land from the west coast we waited… and waited. Finally it crested, and a sample crashed into our pilot system. After brewing with it all the buzz made sense. Comments ranged from “Well that changes the game” to “It’s so good it feels like we’re cheating.” Today we procure as much as Citra as we can to bring you as much of this IPA as our little brewery can muster. All hail Citra!

From a 473ml can served straight from the fridge at 8 degrees Celsius into a white wine glass. Canned on date: 13.10.2017.

Look: The beer pours a slightly veiled amber with 3cm of moussy, off-white head that dissipates into a craggy cap in just short of 3 minutes. Good lacing and overall head.

Smell: Moderate strength and balanced. Hop-forward. Pronounced North American hops with notes of grapefruit, sweet orange, resinous pine, lychee, and pineapple.

Taste: Follows the aroma with medium-strong intensity and high bitterness. Again, notes of grapefruit, lychee, sweet orange, and resinous pine. Biscuity pale malts and a neutral fermentation profile provide a fabulous canvas for Citra to shine. The finish is long, strong, and very bitter with the hops still dominating.

Feel: Medium body with medium-high carbonation. Crisp with a bit of dryness and slight alcohol warming. Exceptional mouthfeel.

Overall: An excellent, delicious, and juicy IPA by GLB. A testament to how a relatively simple beer can be absolutely delightful. Well worth a try for anyone who likes their beer hoppy.

Good example of an American style IPA citrusy, grapefruty, with slightly veiled tropical fruit malt sweetness.

Look - Looks great in the glass with the nice head.
Smell - Bitter, alcohol.
Taste - A tad too bitter for my taste, very hoppy and citrusy.
Feel - I can tell it's a higher alcohol beer by mouthfeel and taste.
Overall - Not bad. For a 6%+ beer, alcohol comes through big time.

Can purchased from LCBO, date on can reads September 7 2017, enjoyed on September 18 2017.

L: Pours a tropical orange gold with almost two fingers of head. Great retention and lacing throughout.
S: Lots of tropical fruit, primarily pineapple, mango, melon and grapefruit. Mild earthy hop presence is there as well.
T: Follows the nose with the tropical fruit flavours. There's a nice hop bitterness that I felt was missing in last year's version.
F: Medium body and medium to high carbonation.
O: Great Lakes' Tank Ten IPAs never let me down and this is no exception. Easily my go-to IPA during the fall season.

Part of the Tank X limited series.

Appearance - Pours a deep gold with two fingers of bubbly white head.

Smell - citrus hops, tropical fruits, grapefruit peel, bready malts, and earthy yeast.

Taste - Bitter citrus hops upfront followed by tropical fruits and the grapefruit peel. The earthy yeast and bready malts finish the brew off but mainly the citrus hops are the predominant flavour.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes with a pleasant lingering bitterness from the citrus hops.

Overall - Another stellar IPA from Great Lakes. The hop profile is done to a tee. Great Lakes continues to impress with the limited edition IPA's.

Slightly hazy golden color with off-white head. Aroma is fruity with some dank hop notes. Taste follows with grassy, slightly vegetal hops, some peaches, quite bitter on the finish. Medium to full bodied, quite smooth on the palate. Really good IPA overall.
