Hazy deep orange colour, one finger of sticky dense white head, lots of lace left behind. Smell is yeasty with pepper and spice, light notes of orangey citrus, some fruity qualities, swwet candy and banana notes. Taste is yeasty with sweet candy/bubblegum notes, banana, slight spices, good malt bill, drying in the finish. Carbonation is light but lively making it feel bigger than it is, smooth and soft feel, creamy, good feel overall. Really good stab at the style, I like when Great Lakes put out stuff like this to show that they can make other styles as good as they make their hop bombs.

Where bottle Horseradish wins over chile. Despite the silly name, not really French, the spicyness was significant yet mellowed in the bottle. The aroma was not as potent as the the tap. Medium mouthfeel, a great idea that was very good drinkability. Those that like horseradish like it a lot.

On tap at Volo.

Pours a cloudy golden colour. No head (perhaps just the pour), just a ring of white film. Minimal lacing.

Smell consists of Belgian yeast and a malty scent that consists of floral notes and light fruits- peach most notably. Rather nice, and characteristically tripel.

Taste is quite nice. Light fruits (peach) predominate. A mildly bitter finish. The beer is rather sweet (though not overly so), and is very smooth- certainly has honey aspects to it.

Light carbonation, medium to light bodied. Feels a little insubstantial. A little more weight would be nice.

Overall, quite enjoyable, especially considering it is from Ontario, which is hardly known for abbey style beers. I would definitely have this again. I hope it gets produced more regularly.
