A: A hazy deep gold/pale orange color with a good 3/4" off-white head. Bubbled strongly at first but slowed. Not the color I expected for a Christmas Ale.
S: Sweet caramel smell with light fruitiness.
T: CARAMEL, with a wonderful smoothness. Caramel and toffee flavors are somewhat stronger than the malt. Probably a fair amount of candi syrup went into this, but it's certainly tasty. Decidedly sweet; not very much hop aroma or flavor. This is not a beer for hopheads.
M: The mouthfeel matches the flavor well; smooth and sleek without being overwhelming. Carbonation lightens and gives a creamy texture without being overwhelming.
Overall: This is a tasty Christmas beer. Not something you'd want to session, but great shared in small glasses. It's one of those things that I wouldn't want to drink every day, but something I would instead save for special occasions.

Beer bottle (75 cl.), tasted 1/1/11.
Appearance : medium amber color, with white foamy head (good lacing).
Smell : malty and grassy aromas.
Taste and mouthfeel : caramel and malty flavours, with notes of spices.
Drinkability : a good beer in the French style "bière de garde".
