Pours ruby/copper with a large fading head.
Nose shows roasted malt, caramel, floral hops and cocoa. Not bad.
Flavours also include soft roasted malt, caramel and faint floral hops. Seems a bit light on.
Body is watery with very low carbonation. But oh so drinkable.

The two finger head is pale brown and airy. It sinks very slowly leaving some lacing on the glass. The clear liquid is brown (30 EBC).

The smell is malty, sweet and roasted with distinct notes of brown bread, some tobacco, chocolate bars, and vanilla. Weak hints of bitterness and brewers yeast.

The taste is wonderfully smooth. Malty notes of rye bread, quite a lot of smooth sweetness. Medium body, especially considered the low ABV. Some notes of chocolate and nuts, fresh hints of plum and roasted nuts. The aftertaste brings some hints of yeast, but it is clearly focused on the malt with just a barley noticeable bitterness and a touch of kiwi.

The carbonation is light; the small bubbles are fresh. The liquid is semi-smooth.

I miss some more chocolate-nut flavours and perhaps even smoother carbonation. Otherwise, this is a fine example of an almost extinct beer style. Happy Mild month!

Nice offering from Wold Top in Yorkshire.

Dark,chocolatey-brown with a thin, sand coloured head. Pleasant malty, nutty smell. A slight hint of sourness, and some bread profiles.

Slightly sweeter taste, and retains the nutty and malt profile in the flavour. Fairly well balanced - not too malty and the hops are fairly light.

Smooth mouthfeel, but a little carbonated when cold. At 3.5%, quite drinkable.
