This spot is a mile from my in-laws place and gets a fair amount of business from me. Has lots o east coast goodies and fair share of everything else. Vintages of many popular DFH and Flying Dog offerings. Good share of JW Lees to boot, and some unexpected Mikkeller gems.

What sets the place apart for me is Jim, the beer manager. He makes time to talk to me everytime I visit and has always taken care of me when it comes to special orders and holds.

They are planning on moving to a larger location, hopefully not so damn tucked away, in the "near" future and expanding the beer selction even further. So keep an eye out for that.

If you find yourself on that stretch of 18, be sure to stop in, they're bound to have something to impress.

My go to store. The selection leaves a little to be desired and the re-stocking of imported brews are spotty, but you really can't beat the atmosphere, customer service, and plain quality environment here

Went here the other day cuz it's so highly rated and I was in central Jersey for a the people who have written the sparkling reviews must limited experience with craft beers, the selection is mediocre at best...lots of Rouge, Dogfish Head, Stone, and all the other beers you can get elsewhere.

A few "vintage" bottles and by "vintage" I mean last year's left overs...don't get me wrong some interesting stuff but not much at all. I was there 3-4 years ago and it had a much bigger selection then.

At this point I've hit almost all the top rates shops and this one's not worth going out of your way for if you live any where Boonton Liquors, Byram Shop Rite, or Valley in Hackettstown...all three of those shops are far, far better.

Great beer store. Completely hidden next to the Stop n' Shop. Had an amazing selection of bombers. I have spent too much time just browsing up and down the bomber aisle because there's so much you're likely to miss something interesting. Also have a good amount of vintage bottles which are clearly labeled, big positive for me. Very good rival to Wine World across 18, but you have to pass one to go to the other.

It may be between this and Wine World across the road as to which may be the best beer
store in the state which is kind of incredible.Oak Tree has fallen on hard times.they are not half of what they were.
Marketplace may have better prices but wine world is the most competent bunch of guys selling beer in the state.Marketplace has a little more to offer and nobody for whatever reason beats their prices.(vitus-$2.50 for a 16.9 ou. bottle). Both stores are fantastic. I love the guys in Wine World though. If you ask them a question be prepared to discuss beer for
a while.

I've been going here for years and have usually had good help. Mike I believe is one of the guys names and he is always extremely helpful when it comes to not knowing exactly what you want. They also have a wine tasting spot you can get a card and try up to 4 wines a day. Overall good spot with good selection. They will even price match if somewhere else has something cheaper. Good single selection of craft beers.

This has been my go to beer spot for the past few years now. They have a ridiculous selection of singles and bombers. The staff is extremely knowledgable of their selections and can make some really great recommendations based on your lies and dislikes. Every time I'm in town I always make sure to stop by and grab some beers from Marketplace. Their selection never disappoints.

One of the best beer shops in New Jersey in regards to selection and price.. If you haven't had a chance to swing by definitely do yourself a favor and check this store out.

This place is only a few minutes from where I grew up. I had frequented the area a lot as a kid, and as I got more and more into craft beer I began to realize recently just how wide a selection Marketplace actually has. Currently, I live in Florida - so I do not get the opportunity to come here all the time (though when I did live in NJ, this was my #1 stop in the area to get my fill of great craft beers). Many new breweries have made their ways into New Jersey recently, and Marketplace is very much on top of that with offerings that are very hard to find elsewhere. Ballast Point, Lost Abbey, Port Brewing, Founders, Troegs, Firestone Walker are just a few examples of the wide variety available here.

Marketplace has 5-6 full-door coolers filled with many different offerings a seasoned or new beer lover would appreciate. I suggest that if you are in the area, please give this place a shot - I promise you will not walk away disappointed.

The staff is friendly and helpful - especially the manager of the store who I had the pleasure of having a beer-related chat with for about 20 minutes yesterday. The prices are very good too (I was appreciative of how low the prices for a lot of the beers were).

I will continue to shop at Marketplace whenever I come home to New Jersey, and plan to have my parents pick up some special releases from the store in the future.

Great store, nice staff, highly recommended.

I heard about this place from the sales woman from Weyerbacher during a tap takeover and heard they do vintage stuff and have a great selection. I never got around to going here until today. As i walked in and went to the beer selection it was clear that i had found a hidden gem. As i went up and down the selection it was a decent selection of aged beers and fresh beers. Within 10 minutes of looking around one of the employees asked me if i was looking for anything special. After a few minutes of talking he asked me if i was looking for anything special and asked if i wanted any of the barrel aged beers from firestone walker. after coming back from the back room he came with a box from firestone walker and from that point on we started talking about different beers. Also talked about how he wants to get more sour beers in the store. After our chat of about 30 minutes i ended up buying the firestone walker beer, calbo between terrapin and another brewery, and a 1999 jw lee barely wine which i am stoked to try a beer before 2000. Either way for being my first time to this place and having a someone get a beer from the back it was a pleasant experience and think i will be going back.

This place is like a hidden gem since it's a bit back from 18. This is usually the first place I go to when I'm in search for something particular. They have a large selection of craft beers and have a decent selection of vintage and other rarities. The back coolers are filled with a variety of 4/6 packs with some bombers. There's sometimes variety packs that they make themselves depending on the season. There's an entire wall dedicated primarily for single bottles and bombers with a few 4/6 packs. This is where their selection really shines. If they don't carry something you're looking for, they can typically order it for you or know another place that carries it.

The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They have tried most of brews and can easily make recommendations on your likes/dislikes.

They also have some other miscellaneous stuff like proper glassware, brew kits and beer literature. Sometimes there's a beer rep there handing out samples.

One of the better stores I've seen recently in Central/Northern NJ... Had a great selection including a lot of vintage (marked as such, so you don't have to go checking the labels).. Very notable was that they had stuff a lot of the better stores up North don't have, which seems to be a rarer and rarer thing to see... They sell branded glassware which is awesome.. Staff is super helpful and friendly. Only downside is its hard to find, don't expect to see it from Rt 18, but look for its sign near Kmart (it is positioned behind the building)...

This is a great place in Central NJ where you can get a variety of microbrews from around the world. They have a large selection that's constantly being restocked and refreshed. Lots of seasonals and some rarer beers. Hard to find a place like this in NJ.

Haven't really asked the staff any questions ever, so I'm not too sure on their knowledge. They seem friendly though.

A little off topic, but they have a huge selection of wine as well. I'm not much of a wine drinker, so I haven't really given them a look.

Atmosphere: Nothing special but well organized. Clean.

Quality: Have some good products and some hard to find stuff.

Service: Staff is very friendly and both times I have been there I have been asked by multiple employees if I need any help. The beer guy was very nice and when I asked about certain beers they did not have he said he would contact the distributor. My name and number were taken down so they could inform me when it was in. I feel that they care about their patrons. I hear some of the employees joking around with some of the regulars at the store. Very friendly group of people.

Selection: They get some oddities/rarities in and have a nice amount of vintages. Their stock is not as expansive as a lot of places and looks very underwhelming at first site. Look around and you will find some goodies.

This store is located right near our New Jersey branch. I credit Beerfly for letting me know of it's location. Excellent store and one I always visit when I' in the area. They have a ½ of a long aisle dedicated to craft beer. Lots of bombers and a nice section of vintage bottles. Labeled by year, things like World Wide Stout, Raison D'Extra and many other annual releases are available from many different years. All the standard Mid Atlantic brewers are available including Troeg's, Victory, Flying Fish and some others. Decent six pack cooler has plenty of options, but most of the action is in their aisle.

They do not sell singles other than a few items that are marked down. I have seen some seasonal pre-made mixed six packs. Looks like a decent place to stop when passing through.

The help is o.k. Not rude or anything, but I haven't found them to be overtly friendly or knowledgeable. It's about 10 minutes off the NJ Turnpike and not sure it's worth that much of a detour. But if your in the area, check it out.

This is my go to place when a new beer has been released. They usually have or they are about to get it. Manager is willing to please and making a special order is no problem The staff knows their beer and wine.
Large selection of Belgians and other imports. Alot of craft brews. Sam Adams,Sierra Nevada,Brooklyn,Anchor Steam,Troegs,Victory, andSaranac are wll stocked along with BMC and Heiney.
If you are looking for something hard to find , I suggest you call them and they'll help you before you take a drive to the store. But, If you do decide to go in you'll come out with something good to drink.

Visited this place July 23, 2009.

Behind Kmart...just follow the directions from their website. Alternately, turn west off route 18 onto Arthur Road and go left into the A&P parking lot.

On the left is a nice selection of room temp singles plus some glassware and in the back case are 4 & 6-packs of cold beer. To the right are the 12/24 packs. Some beers are marked with stickers indicating the vintage year which I found to be a helpful touch. Three vintages of Thomas Hardy's Ale @ $24 a 4-pack. Prices a bit higher than Shawan in Hunt Valley where I more frequently go but, if this place is close for you, give it a try.

Between the left and right is the wine but that doesn't hold much interest for me.

Friendly and helpful staff.

The location is a bit tricky to find, read the other reviews I don't want to confuse anybody.

Quality- Marketplace wines & spirits has a very good beer selection for a wine store. The beer is to the right of the store as you walk in, a huge long tall shelf full of bombers & other sized single bottles. after that is a row of chilled beer in six pack form along with other various single bottles.

Service- Im not really sure on this as no one has offered to help as I was shopping, but I know what im doing so that does not bother me.

Selection- I think this store has the best vintage selection in Jersey and in PA. I walked with a 4 pack of 2003 thomas hardy ale. Vintage DFH WWS, olde school and the like. Vintage gonzo porter, you get the idea. I was able to find Weyerbacher riserva way after it sold out in PA. Selections from Captain Lawrence and a very good Import selection as well. Did I mention this place has a great vintage selection.

Value- It's better than PA.

I'm glad I found this place! Located off Rt. 18, it is tucked back next to an A&P. There was a great selection of bombers, and a ton of good 6 packs in the coolers. I picked up some Nugget Nectar and Sierra Nevada Torpedo, and wished I could have purchased 20 other beers. The selection of imports was expansive, but I tend to focus on American micros. Prices were very reasonable. They even had vintage beers.

I had previously driven to Oak Tree, but this place is much closer and almost as good. The owner saw me with some good beer in my basket and ask me if there was anything in particular I was interested in. He offered to special order any beer that I couldn't find on the shelf.

Will be my go to beer store from now on. Highly recommended.

Boasting over 500 different varieties there should be something here for everyone. A great selection of Belgians (de Proef, Liefmans, Ranke) as well trappist beers (Rochefort, chimay, westmalle) are present here. A nice variety of German beers (Aecht Schlenkerla, Uerige) are here as well the usual suspects (Dogfishhead, Rogue, Three Floyds, Smuttynose etc) plus other smaller local east coast breweries that may be hard to get (Butternuts). Aged beers are here (several vintages of JW Lees) are here as well. Overall a solid amount of quality beers makes this worth the trip. There is also several sectioned coolers for six packs as well.

Service was friendly checking out. Don't really need advice of beers as im informed and knowledgeable as to what I want. The people there seem to enjoy their work and happy to help if needed.

Fairly priced and easy to get to (just minutes of NJTP #9) makes this worth the trip.

This place has an EXCELLENT selection of micros. Everything said earlier is true about finding it. If travelling north or south on 18, take the Arthur Avenue exit west and go into the A&P parking lot.
They have plenty of singles available, mostly in the 22oz bottles, as well as a generous amount in the cooler (6pks).
The owner is exceptionally helpful and will go out of his way to order whatever you ask for, provided he can get his hands on it, and is fair about providing discounts for large purchases.
